HELP ME spend £250

PoohBearsHole · 04/10/2017 18:03

I've accumulated £250 worth of John Lewis vouchers (not quite sure how but gifts given etc which I'm quite happy about!)

I'd like to buy something for me, I'm 5"6 and 14-16 with average feet. I don't NEED anything so can be luxurious but I don't want to spend on sensible things like a Waitrose food shop possibly might do a bottle of sparkling but would prefer not to.
So;
kitchen items
Shoes
Clothes
Soft furnishings but no duvet covers
Don't really need make up
DONT want to buy gifts for other people

I'd make an appointment with the personal shopper and ask for some capsule pieces for my wardrobe. Or a good pair of leather boots or a hand bag.

MusicToMyEars800 · 04/10/2017 18:52

Perfume?
New Purse?
New Handbag?
Winter coat?
Winter boots?

PoohBearsHole · 04/10/2017 19:04

This is the problem, I have too many handbags - according to dh but what does he know? I would love one of their designer bags BUT the ones I really like are more than £250 by some considerable amount 🤔 (Shopping above my weight there!)

I have tried on some nice ugg boots that are quite timberlandy so would get worn a lot on a day to day basis like these
I will have a look at winter coats but I got a new one last year so that would be super indulgent 😁

I like the boots. I'd still think about a winter coat or an in between coat.

RubyGoat · 04/10/2017 19:09

Do you have any hobbies? For example, I could spend that in their haberdashery section in a heartbeat. Any events coming up?

PoohBearsHole · 04/10/2017 19:18

I've always wanted an overlock sewing machine - will have a look!
I bet I end up Boots or coat though or both 😳

@Dailystuck71
How much do you pay for a personal shopper in JL. Is it much?

It's not on you list (sorry) but I'd be buying Tom Raffield lighting and some Edinburgh gin rhubarb and ginger.

PoohBearsHole · 04/10/2017 19:38

Sorry @danceswithotters i'm NOT sharing or i'd so something sensible like buying a chrome book for the dc to do homework on......but then i'd never get a look in and it wouldn't be for me!

would point out this is several birthdays and xmas' rolled up so hope they still work - was saving for a "mulberry" bag but thought i'd be too old to carry the bastard once i'd managed to get to £1k! So i've given up on that idea! (they are soooo heavy and everyone would think i'd knicker it or it was a knock off)

OP posts:
PoohBearsHole · 04/10/2017 19:42

lighting could be on there! I'm not fussy! was going to put in rather than s&ab but then i thought i might get hammered for spending on myself!

it just basically has to come from John Lewis....literally anything but food

I’d look at some really nice leather boots. Something classic- spend about £100-£150. Then I might spend £100 on a lovely cashmere jumper, or a nice silk blouse. Items that won’t date and you can use to make cheap outfits feel expensive!

What about a leather jacket? Hobbs and Reiss concessions had some lovely ones in the concessions.

Failing that I’d binge on some lovely candles (True Grace) and buy one of their fancy wool bed throws. Final suggestion would be a kitchen aid if you’re into cooking!

MusicToMyEars800 · 04/10/2017 20:30

Do you like posh scented candles?
How about some expensive skin care or bath stuff?

MusicToMyEars800 · 04/10/2017 20:31

Xpost about candles with Dont Grin

Dailystuck71 · 04/10/2017 20:32

No charge for personal shopper at JL. You can book online.

Dontknowwhattodonowok · 04/10/2017 20:33

@musictomyears800 candle whore over here! I could spend hundreds on just fancy candles! And fancy matches. Oh and those fancy silver things to put them out (sure they have a name)

I am the same, I love my candles Grin I spend ages browsing them in places like John Lewis Grin

PoohBearsHole · 04/10/2017 20:37

Candles are good one - they have diptique which is exciting!

I will also be looking at boots for some good old plodding

And lamp shades - odd I know!

What about fancy underwear or comfy pjs? Grin

Alanna1 · 04/10/2017 20:41

Kiitchen things; joseph joseph range or alessi. New wine glasses? New knives?
Jewellary. They have a nice "seconds" table in the oxford street branch.
Clothes; I wouldn't buy boots or a coat, myself, unless you need them - they'll all go 60% off or so in January. I would look at their cashmere options, new underwear, new cardigans etc. Why don't you go and browse?
Other: New luggage? New sports equipment of any sort for you?

PovertyJetset · 04/10/2017 20:45

Cashmere dressing gown
Cashmere scarf
Tom ford perfume
Fancy smanshy candle
Leather wallet
Leather Filofax
Sunglasses
Sheepskin slippers
Kitchen Aid
LSA martini glasses
Really nice coffee mugs

That's my wish list.

PovertyJetset · 04/10/2017 20:46

Leather jacket

scrivette · 04/10/2017 20:56

I have the same (rather nice) issue but with House of Fraser! Am thinking a cashmere wrap... but then again will probably end up full of moth holes Blush
