Has anyone else had this:

WHEN TRAGIC MET JOHNNIE

and then some sort of timeline of our 'romance' on the inside flap.

I'm a bit weirded out it has to be said. I haven't bought anything from them for a while so I'm guessing he's trying to woo me back

Yep -TOO much!

EnidButton · 02/10/2017 18:03

Oh that's weird. Their marketing is a bit weird though. Like Hush and their overly personal emails. (Saying where the head person has been on her holiday and the troubles they've had with a supplier, that kind of thing.)

Laska5772 · 02/10/2017 18:04

Yes me! with a measly 10% off too! (so not at all not tempting considering all the 20%-40% vouchers they send me.. ) .. I think i last bought from them last winter

battenbergbutterfly · 02/10/2017 18:11

Too much, got mine today, too twee for its own good. Straight in the bin.

TragicRabbit · 02/10/2017 18:17

If the clothes were better Johnnie wouldn't need to stalk us

Mybestusername · 02/10/2017 19:21

Got mine today, that Johnnie is a tart!

CountFosco · 02/10/2017 19:35

Got mine today as well. Not impressed with the 10% off but only got myself to blame because I didn't spend the last 2 £10 vouchers I got. I have bought 2 cashmere jumpers and a belt this season though, although that doesn't compare with the fortune I use to spend with them historically.

Strummerville · 02/10/2017 20:18

I had one like this a few years back Grin

I'm out in the cold now, though, I don't even get emails from them any more. Don't know what I did Hmm

EnidButton · 02/10/2017 20:28

You have to treat Johnnie mean to keep him keen. I've never bought anything from them ever and I get all the offers and catalogues through the door.

badbadhusky · 02/10/2017 20:34

I'm so glad someone posted about this. I have an unusual (foreign) name and it properly freaked me out when I got home tonight. Too, too much and weirdly stalkerish.

If the clothes were better Johnnie wouldn't need to stalk us

And this ^^ in spades.

PollyPerky · 02/10/2017 20:43

Yes but it's not that odd. All major companies where you buy online have a customer profile based on your data. It's why Tesco / Boots etc personalise their offers / vouchers. Putting your name on the catalogue is just another step.

BikeRunSki · 02/10/2017 20:47

Me too. If I don't get my birthday £10 voucher next month, I'll be most upset. Grin

SoftSheen · 02/10/2017 20:50

Mine went straight into the recycling bin. Cringeworthy.

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 02/10/2017 21:19

They're printing your name on the address label, to do it to the catalogue too isn't too much of a stretch

PollyPerky · 02/10/2017 22:16

exactly.

minipie · 02/10/2017 22:20

Yes and I found it creepy too.

It's not the fact they have my name that was weird, it's making up some fake romance between me and Johnnie Hmm very strange tactic. That man's ego is taking over.

If they'd done "when Minipie met Boden" it would have been ok.

bitchpleaase · 02/10/2017 22:24

Mine has also gone on to a better place the bin

Rosie70 · 02/10/2017 22:32

I agree found it quite weird and off putting!

TheRealMrsClarkson · 02/10/2017 22:36

I love this thread.
I work in IT and have spent countless hours in meetings with 12 year old marketeers proclaiming how wonderful such initiatives are (whilst muttering under my breath). But then I'm an old hag, what would I know (well apart from how much this may have cost to develop, nevermind implement...but hey I'm sure it's worth it).
I made paper aeroplanes with my little un out of my copy

Largebucket · 02/10/2017 22:44

Have just posted on the other Boden thread about this - I thought it was weird and patronising too. I usually at least leaf through the catalogue during an idle moment when exhausted the whole of MN but took so agin this one that it went straight in the recycling bin.

penstemon · 02/10/2017 22:46

I had this too along with an email yesterday about it being our fifth anniversary. Not only is it annoying but it is wrong! I have been buying their clothes for many more than five years.

MillicentFawcett · 02/10/2017 22:53

I didn't get that one. Mine is all about the art of elegance. I'm offended

badbadhusky · 02/10/2017 22:57

Art of elegance? 🙄 Boden clothes are a bit too workmanlike to be talking about elegance.

CountFosco · 03/10/2017 08:12

This one was a bit better than the one I had a few years ago which listed clothes I'd bought years ago. One of which was very much a 'what was I thinking!' coat that has long since gone. I'm another where the date is wrong because it's how long we've been at this house (or possibly been using my current email) rather than how long I've shopped from Boden. That's getting on for 18 years, if he used that as the date I'd be more inclined to feel kindly towards him because it was genuinely exciting to discover Boden back in the 90s when I was trying to work out what to wear to work as a postdoc after years of study.

JessiCake · 03/10/2017 12:31

Mine has just plopped through the letterbox.

I thought this thread was an exaggeration until I saw it with my own eyes.

I'm properly weirded out. It's so unneccessarily creepy! Ugh, ugh and thrice ugh.

Oh and I might have had a glance through the catalogue otherwise (and maybe shelled out for something, though I very rarely spend more than the price of a Breton top there a season any more, it isn't good stuff any more) but nope, it's given me the heebie-jeebies, so into the recycling it goes!
