Going out top - cold shoulder and Bardot done ?

I have zero tops suitable for night time outings. Nada
Just had a hunt in the sales and see tons of cold shoulders and Bardot tops. Is that because they're over? I was reading here about tight dress and heels recommendation but am a bit porky for that. Skinnies and heels and top might be ok. But what top? Size 12/14. Skittle or pear but big enough gut to be an apple
