Embarrassing / odd perfumes that you love

I am this close to buying a bottle of Dermot O'Leary's Bergamot and Basil fragrance from M&S. It's gorgeous - fresh and clean and really lovely, not particularly masculine. And only £22. If I do go for it, I will have to hold that no one asks me what I'm wearing!

Anyone got an odd or surprising scent that they love?

I bet I win the ' owner of the most embarrassing perfume' title Smile

Is it Bronze Goddess?

DollyPartonsBeard · 01/10/2017 11:41

I used to love Jovan Sex Appeal as well!

Gingernaut · 01/10/2017 14:12

Nope. No one beats Tramp!

notacooldad · 01/10/2017 14:19

Unless. You are wearing Eau de Trump I don't get what is embarrassing or cringey about these perfumes.
If you like them and they suit you great!

I occasionly wear an old one that was popular in the 90s ((CK1) and people are surprised and think it has been discontinued or its uncool but who gives a toss!
Enjoy your scents!

I still love and wear patchouli or musk... so I like the sound of the Jessica Simpson one. I also like Chanel no 5.
My current bought faves are Kai and Oud oil, and I mix up my own with frankincense or sandalwood oils.

Arealhuman
See my earlier post - Ronan Keating's Believe after shave.
But in my defence it really is lovely.

notacooldad · 01/10/2017 14:47

The mention of Patchouli took me back to being a teenager and hanging round Lee Louise in Chester ( a bit of a New age, hippy store)
My bedroom stunk of patchouli insincere sticks as well!

Kim Kardashian’s Honey. It is bloody gorgeous and I’m always complimented on it. Mortifying to admit I’m wearing one of hers though.

Deathraystare · 01/10/2017 15:07

Jessica Simpson Fancy Nights.

Oakmoss etc - sounds like just the job! Can you get it in UK?

MrsPestilence · 01/10/2017 15:12

Fancy Nights

SpinDry · 01/10/2017 15:19

I bought the perfume by Adam Levine from Maroon 5 on a whim and it is actually bloody lovely and very autumnal. It was soooo cheap, and I've had lots of compliments on it. Long lasting too!

georgie262 · 01/10/2017 21:37

Britney Spears Fantasy is amazing! I always get compliments on it when I wear it although it does cling to everything

myusernamewastaken · 01/10/2017 22:17

Missguideds Babe Power....its bloody gorgeous !!

Mumof41987 · 01/10/2017 22:31

I adore and will now only wear alien by Thierry muggler . It's the most gorgeous , sophisticated , clean smelling perfume Iv ever smelt and I now can't stand any other perfume. It lasts for ages also and is worth every penny . The cheap ( celeb ones) perfumes tend to be really fruity or vanillary and rarely last after 30 minutes so Iv personally always found it more economical to buy a decent perfume ( alien) that will last rather than a cheapy that i use like body spray . I do have to admit that my love of alien means I over spray and go through shit loads as I'm so used to the smell I now can't smell it so am always having a spray at each loo trip during working hours . Everyone always comments on how lovely I smell and asks what perfume I'm wearing . I am yet to find a perfume that lasts as well as alien or has that clean, elegant , sophisticated , provocative and super sultry smell . I have definitely found my scent . My mam loves Chanel no 5 and will not wear anything else and I always thought her crazy but I now understand . I think we all have our one "scent"

Maverick66 · 01/10/2017 23:42

Opium. Love it. But don't wear it as I think it annoys other people Blush

JustGettingStarted · 02/10/2017 13:23

I had Boots points to burn yesterday. It took me ten minutes of sniffing, and asking passers-by to sniff, my wrists to decide between Britney Spears Curious and Fantasy.

I finally went with Fantasy, but I think it was the bottle shape that tipped me. They're both lovely.

Ordinarily, I wear Chanel Coco, Shalimar or Mitsouko. This is real departure for me!

CoolCarrie · 02/10/2017 14:18

Sometimes it is the style bottle that tips the balance for me as well. Love the Britney Spears range, but haven't bought any...yet!

Polly by Ted Baker

CointreauVersial · 06/10/2017 17:38

I'm another fan of the Lidl Suddenly Madame Glamour (what a name!).

But if we're talking embarrassing, recently I tried EldO Secretions Magnifique, in a blind sniffing. It is a legendary "controversial" fragrance, supposed to smell like blood and....err...semen. But I really liked it and couldn't stop sniffing it! Was a bit Shock when I found out what I'd fallen for.

nigelsbigface · 06/10/2017 18:14

Sunflowers by Elizabeth Arden was my first 'grown up' perfume when I was 14..,I still have a little spritz now sometimes-the only other perfume i wear is issey Miyake. Maybe i need a change...
