All Saints - am I too old?

MotherMucca · 29/09/2017 18:55

At 49, I wonder if I am?

I've always been quite edgy in my sense of style, but I can't help but think that I need to move to Noa Noa or something?

I adore these jeans, but am I wrong?

No you're not, those jeans are fab, go for it.

Branleuse · 29/09/2017 19:01

I dont think youre too old for all saints, but those jeans will need a lot to be able to carry them off as theyre quite bizarre looking.

MotherMucca · 29/09/2017 19:05

Thank you both.

I am a little bit short of leg and about a size 18. I thought they might shake up my wardrobe a bit.

Hmm.

my dd is 20 and owns somethign like that.

imjessie · 29/09/2017 19:15

I hate to burst your bubble but I don't think all saints make a size 18. I thought 14 was their max size 😬

loveka · 29/09/2017 19:18

The jeans are lovely! Not at all wierd, very flattering.

But no, they dont do size 18. I have just bought some cropped wide leg jeans fro. Boden which I am hoping will have a similar vibe to those.

SweetChickadee · 29/09/2017 19:21

Erm.. am I seeing the same jeans as everyone else?

they are most peculiar, IMHO

Sparkletastic · 29/09/2017 19:30

So... even a tall willowy 20-something would struggle to pull those off. Did you not notice they only go up to size 14? I speak as a fellow sturdy rather than willowy 40-something.

imjessie · 29/09/2017 19:31

I don't like the jeans , I'm 5 ft and size10 And they would look hideous on me . Good to try new things though 🤷‍♀️

TheDowagerCuntess · 29/09/2017 19:33

A lady at work wore a pair of trews like those recently - I would say she's late 40s, and she looked amazing.

She has quite an edgy style, however she is about a size 2, 4 at most.

verite · 29/09/2017 19:38

I like all saints but in general think you have to be very thin (and ideally tall as well) to wear most of their clothes. My friend who is size 6-8 looks amazing in their clothes. I have a big bust and hips and just look shapeless or matronly in most of their stuff.

CountFosco · 29/09/2017 19:41

49 is not too old (I'm biased, I'm 46) but I'm not that keen. I liked cropped wideleg trousers but those look like the model has put on petite bootlegs by mistake Grin. I'd look at Mint Velvet which is a sister brand of All Saint's that does go up to size 18 and has petite trousers if you're short of leg.

TheMasterNotMargarita · 29/09/2017 19:54

You're not too old but those are not fabulous.
I saw someone wearing a pair that length but the shape was overall looser and paired with low converse style sneakers/stripy long sleeved t and it looked good. But she was tall and slim.
Without trying to burst your bubble I can't see them doing anything for you.

CredulousThickos · 29/09/2017 19:57

They would only work if you are willowy and Amazonian, with hip length hair and bluebell eyes.

Otherwise you’re going to look like Ken Dodd wearing his dad’s trews.

MotherMucca · 29/09/2017 19:58

Thanks for all the advice. Smile

I love this coat, not with the jeans though perhaps!

AdelindSchade · 29/09/2017 20:02

I'm 46 and would wear some All Saints stuff. But those jeans are a definite no. Especially not with your stature, they will make you look shorter.

NotTheDuchessOfCambridge · 29/09/2017 20:08

Those jeans......no
That coat.......really no
The jeans would look ok and quirky on a 20 yr old size 8 fashion student.
The coat is shapeless and there are many better coats out there.

Squashit · 29/09/2017 20:10

The coat is gorgeous - try jaeger outlet as they usually do similar styles but less £££.

Squashit · 29/09/2017 20:13

www.jaeger.co.uk/wool-folded-collar-coat-591104r-20000?___store=jaeger

Only a size 18 left....and £125.

PNGirl · 29/09/2017 20:16

I'm a large 12 and I'm a size L in their stuff that doesn't come in dress sizes. They are cut for people who look like their models which is fair enough I suppose.

You can get similar things elsewhere. I'm just a bit obsessed with their leather jackets but have never felt like forking out for their knitwear or denim.

SinglePringle · 29/09/2017 20:17

BUY THE JEANS. NO-ONE IS TOO OLD FOR ANY CLOTHES. IF THEY SUIT YOU, WEAR THEM!

Rant over.

borntobequiet · 29/09/2017 20:20

I have an All Saints coat and I'm 64. My kids say it looks great and they would be the first to say if otherwise. If it looks OK wear it. If not, don't.

withlotsoflove · 29/09/2017 21:33

Those jeans look like what happened to my son's school trousers over the summer!Grin

MotherMucca · 29/09/2017 21:45

PNGirl but in Pin-up Girls sizes a 14 is really an 18, isn't it?

expatmigrant · 29/09/2017 22:30

I'm 50+ and shop at AS but not sure I'd go for those jeans if I was a size 18 because I am quite short. However, OP they do some lovely tops and dresses which I think would suit any size. please do not be restricted by size just go for clothes in AS that might be better suited to your size and you will love wearing. To be fair though , i have actually never tried their jeans
