Stupid question? Heat protection spray...

Ok, so basically I don't really understand heat protection spray.

I get the concept of wash hair, apply to damp hair then blow dry / heat style as desired. However what about when you're straightening or curling already dry washed hair?!

I wash my hair at night and just let it air dry over the course of the evening and the night. Then come the morning I style it. Normally it's chucked up but now it's getting longer I sometimes use the straighteners and find the ends are starting to look frazzled. I conclude I need heat protection spray. Do I just spray all over the dry hair and then crack on? This seems weird as my hair will be pretty damp and not sure how effective said heat styling will be?

I feel like I'm definitely missing something here... please send help Blush

Yes, definitely use the heat protection spray on your dried hair before applying the straighteners. They still work and give off a satifying sizzle sound as they go over your hair!

I tend to spray each section as I straighten (the spray would dry off too quickly if applied all over in one go). It has definitely saved my hair from drying out too much. I would have a head of straw otherwise!

I use the Trésemmé spray - reasonably priced and does the job well.

The Aussie one is good too. To be honest though I've cut down on my straightener use by learning how to blow dry my hair better and investing in the hairdryer and brushes.

I use the Boots Style Works Heat Protection Serum on damp hair, mainly just at the ends where its more 'damaged/split' (after washing) before blow drying (3rd time I've recommended this in last week!) then I use the Boots Style Works Heat Protection Spray for straightening, I've used these products for years, my hair has taken some abuse over the years & I think these products help make my hair look Iike hair, I think they pretty much do what they say on the bottle! For around £2.50 for each item you can go wrong.

I've used Lee Stafford HP spray (bright pink bottle £6.99 in Boots) for years now. Use it on just washed dry hair and dry hair washed the day/2 days before. It's brilliant.

I love the sizzle sound too (weird)
