Adult Acne Result!

I've suffered from adult acne all my life. I'm now 33 and have PCOS so mine is hormone related. I have really oily skin and don't have breakouts as such, more like I'm just always spotty. The only time in my adult life I had nice skin was when I was pregnant.

I've had a breakthrough! After using all sorts of expensive lotions and potions over the years (most recently tried La Roche Posay, Dermalogica and then Pro-Active for 3 months each) I gave up and tried using just anti-bacterial soap (Cidal)

I cannot believe it. In just over a week I have almost no spots. No blocked pores, no hard, sore lumps, nothing! The odd small spot I have had I've put plain old Savlon on, and they've cleared up in a day or so.

Too soon to say if it's a long term fix, but fingers crossed. Just wanted to share in case it helps anyone else!

Thanks for sharing this, will definitely try it out. I have been struggling to clear my skin since my early teens.

Where do you buy Cidal from?

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 28/09/2017 18:30

Sometimes the simple solutions are best! That's great news. You can get Cidal in Boots and I've seen it in supermarkets, its in a yellow pack.

Ooh thanks for the tip, I'm in my 40's and have suffered hormonal breakouts all my life, my skin was amazing during pregnancy too! Am off to boots tomorrow so will have to give this a try .

I got my Cidal given to me in a new mum gift box when I had DD, apparently it's great to use if you have stitches. I never used it though and it's been languishing in the cupboard for ages. You can get it cheaply in Boots etc though. Smells nice and lathers l really well my skin feels squeaky clean afterwards and not tight, though if you have dryer skin you might need a moisturiser after. I tend to not use one in the day only at night due to my oil slick skin!

It's horrible being spotty isn't it. Wrecks your confidence. I have so many scars! Let's hope this is a more long term solution.

Thanks user and mama.

Very excited about this - I have PCOS related hormonal breakouts too. I was controlling it to a certain extent with the pill but I came off of it and since then my skin has been awful so I will definitely be trying this! Thank you :)

mamatobabes · 29/09/2017 08:47

The pill controlled mine a bit too @Cakedoesntjudge but never properly and haven't taken it for a few years now. Damn hormones. Although like I say whatever hormonal changes happened in pregnancy agreed with my skin because it was lovely then! I even used to go out without skin make up, unheard of! Sadly can't use pregnancy as a cure though, ha ha.
