What length is your hair currently?

Just out of curiosity. I have hip length hair and I really love it, but it is a pain in the arse at times. After having really long hair for most of my life, whenever I get quite a good bit of it cut off, it seems short to me. I know that it of course isn't short, it's just short for me. I've cut it off to a few inches below shoulder length a few times after wanting a change, but I always end up really regretting it.

Sorry for the babbling, what length is your hair currently? And do you want it longer, shorter or are happy maintaining your current length?

Mine is just above my bum, It's fine too so a nightmare!
It takes ages to wash and dry and it's in terrible condition at the mo, I am in desperate need of a haircut.
I never usually go shorter than shoulder length, and it grows really fast Angry

stevie69 · 28/09/2017 16:18

Shaved on a number 0.5 all over and then painted in rainbow colours with mermaid scales carved into the back.

DuckOffAutocorrectYouShiv · 28/09/2017 16:23

Shoulder length. It's the length that suits me the best.

HippadoppaloppaGammeldag · 28/09/2017 16:28

Mine is just touching my shoulders at the moment. Longer than I like it. It's usually chin length bob and I'm getting it cut again soon.

LeeBee23 · 28/09/2017 16:35

Everyone sounds like they have beautiful hair to me! Remember, as much as you may not like your hair, someone else wants it. My thick hair annoys me sometimes, but lots of people want thicker hair according to replies.

silkpyjamasallday - what a lovely gesture! I've donated hair before (not shaved my head though) and as much as I missed my hair, it was worth it to help other people. Why would someone say that it's attention seeking? That's horrible! It's such a lively thing to do and it's quite disgusting that some people would call raising money for charity "attention seeking". Don't let whoever said that put you off!

It hits my bra strap at the back :-)

It’s very thick and wavy (not curly, but wavy in an unruly way!).

I find I need the length to weigh it down and make it more manageable. When I’ve cut it above shoulder length it just fans out into a wavy triangle shape (even with layers cut in) that is not attractive Grin.

I’ve had so many “tries” with expensive cuts to have it shorter and whilst it looks great in the salon after being blow dried by a professional, I simply can’t recreate it at home without huge amounts of time, products and effort.

Whilst I have to take care of it whilst long it’s still much easier for me to dry and style - and frankly I have the option of putting it in a quick updo on a bad hair day if I need to.

I confess I did buy a Dyson hairdryer which has massively cut my drying time so now there really isn’t any benefit to me having my hair shorter.

I’m quite looking forward when the time comes to having long white hair in a granny bun Grin

Thick hair (in density and strand thickness) means twice the drying time, twice the conditioner, twice the dye or bleach (so more money), hair clogging the drain, sweaty head in the summer, and it's hard to wear your hair sleek or short because it puffs out like a mushroom cloud. You have to get it thinned or have an undercut to get rid of the weight.
Oh and am I the only super thick haired girl who feels like a werewolf on other parts besides just my head?? 😐Like all over!
BUT it's usually strong so it can withstand more damage I'd imagine.
I wish I had slick straight shiny hair

fertilitykate · 28/09/2017 17:12

Below bra strap. Fine straight, gorgeous condition and balayage. Im almost 50 .

DarthMaiden · 28/09/2017 17:16

@Dustbunny1900

Sounds like my hair Grin

Except I’m blonde (with increasing white strands).

I’m not overly hirsute on my body though - it’s just my head hair that’s thick and coarse.

LeeBee23 · 28/09/2017 17:25

Dustbunny1900 You're not alone, I'm like a wolverine! If I don't keep on top of shaving it can take me over an hour to shave! A lot more if it's really out of control. Some areas are a two day job 😆

My hair waist level for many years. Now have a bob and am considering going shorter.

wfrances · 28/09/2017 18:38

just recently had it cut from mid back length to on shoulders, much easier to cope with .

CountFosco · 28/09/2017 18:52

Pixie cut, no dye. I do love it short. I've had it down to my collar bone when I was a student and couldn't afford hair cuts. It got that far then didn't grow any longer. For the last 10 years I've gone between a pixie and bob and back again a few times but every time it get really short I love it and every time I get a bob it doesn't feel like me.

JaceLancs · 28/09/2017 19:01

Shoulder length - wavy more than curly

Doilooklikeatourist · 28/09/2017 19:05

Chin length bob All one length
I have very fine , shiny hair , and this is the length my hair likes , it just falls into place
Needs a cut every 6 weeks though

An inch below bra strap, but needs trimming by an inch or so.

EverythingEverywhere1234 · 28/09/2017 20:08

Mine is about the length it always has been (since I was about 14 anyway, so nearly 10 years!), between the middle of my back and the bottom of my shoulder blades. I'd like it to be a tad longer, but I'm not fussed.
I think it's the style/colour that needs looking at for me. I've never even dyed my hair and whole I do get a lot of compliments, I can't help but feel it's a bit boring!

youvegottobekidding · 28/09/2017 21:24

Shoulder length. Trying to grow it back long, but I'm not very patient. I wish it would grow quicker, although I suppose if I could step away from the hair dye more often it would help! And being 40+ I think growth rate has slowed down a bit!

missmartha · 28/09/2017 21:30

Short. To my cheek bones in the front and cut the same around the back but shaped into the nape of my neck leaving the top floppy.

Does that makes sense? No probably not.

BlueEyedWonder · 28/09/2017 21:46

Been growing out a Michelle Williams style blonde pixie for the last 4 months. I'm always chopping or growing Hmm currently it is just about ear length but not yet all one length.

LeeBee23 · 29/09/2017 02:21

I've never had a pixie but growing out hair that's not all the same length is an awkward experience. Lots of Kirby grips and product!

Finger tip

NatalieRushman · 29/09/2017 12:14

I've had waist to bum length hair pretty much my entire life, and recently cut off a foot and a bit, so now have bra strap length hair. It was so liberating. And most importantly, I cut my shower time in half Grin

spiderlight · 29/09/2017 13:06

Just above waist length. Very low maintenance (i.e. I never do anything with it!)
