Burgundy loafers with black tights?? (Pic)

I'm hunting for a nice black pair of loafers to go with skirts, dresses and tights. Obv also wearing for trousers, but really need flats for winter work skirts.

So I tried these on in Clarks and am drawn to the burgundy pair - would this look odd with black tights though? (They do come in black but they're matte and far less nice.)

The other black loafer on the other foot is nice but I'm not really feeling it.

I have been looking around the high street, there are loads of standard patent black tassel ones but they remind me of school (and i saw 3 women wearing the same down one street today). Has anyone seen slender, elegant black loafers around? Willing to spend maybe 60 pounds....thank you!

I think the oxblood ones would look great with black tights.

Featherstep · 27/09/2017 21:10

These are the 'standard patent black tassel' style I saw 3 women wearing today within 5 minutes. I think they're fit for purpose but don't want to buy something I'm not that excited about...

I have bought some burgundy loafers from Dune recently. Great choice in my view!

AnyFucker · 27/09/2017 21:20

I love those burgundy ones

HolgerDanske · 27/09/2017 21:29

They would look just fine with black tights.

tigerdriverII · 27/09/2017 21:30

Off to buy some. Burgundy.

EllaHen · 27/09/2017 21:33

See, now I want burgundy loafers. I'd definitely wear them with black tights.

Featherstep · 27/09/2017 21:38

Thank you all for enabling me Grin
They felt lovely on too, and look quite expensive for what they are! Well done Clarks!

Buy the burgundy ones. They're by far the nicest colour, and perfect for a/w. Although the m&s navy patent are quite nice too.

MargotLovedTom1 · 27/09/2017 21:47

I like the burgundy colour, but prefer the style of the black loafer. If you get the burgundy then I'm sure they'll look OK with black tights.

rightknockered · 27/09/2017 21:56

I love these! Putting burgundy loafers in my basket, buying before they sell out...

Featherstep · 27/09/2017 22:04

They were sold out of my size, 4.5, in store so yes they are proving quite popular!

Clarks should thank me for sending more business their way ha

I fully intend to wear my burgundy brogues with black tights

HolgerDanske · 27/09/2017 22:35

Have they got them on the clarks website? You can just order them into store for pickup, so convenient!

Ttbb · 27/09/2017 23:42

Shoes that are not back always look really wrong with black tights. Why do you have to wear black tights though?

Muddlingalongalone · 27/09/2017 23:44

We're they comfy I've got them in my shopping cart and can't decide whether £48 is too much for me

Muddlingalongalone · 27/09/2017 23:45

*were ffs

Theycalledmethewildrose · 27/09/2017 23:49

Tibb I wear a primary colour brogue with black tights in Winter. I love the look. Black tights and black shoes can look rather nun like and sensible.

Theycalledmethewildrose · 27/09/2017 23:50

OP Do they have the style of the black loafers in burgandy? That style is somewhat ^younger and funkier*' I think.

Featherstep · 28/09/2017 00:04

Ttbb that's what I'm afraid of. I don't think they're 'really wrong' personally, just a little odd and not as versatile as a black pair.
And I like wearing dresses or skirts to work in the winter but cannot go bare legs, it's too cold and I don't like my legs! Or do you mean why not other colour of tights? I only do 40 den or higher black, I find any other colour look 'really wrong' on me.

rose The black ones come in navy which I don't think I'll consider but they are also rather nice.

Muddling yes they were very very comfy and true to size for me. The black ones rubbed on the heels a bit but the burgundy ones no.

I was dressed in boring corporate navy trouser suit and cream blouse today.
So I wore my Clarks plum coloured pumps with neon yellow trim just to cheer myself up and about eventy billion kids said 'I like your shoes Miss!' Grin

Trills · 28/09/2017 07:43

Shoes that are not back always look really wrong with black tights.

I disagree.
