Help! Wedding Makeup (Pictures)

NC for obvious reasons, but I'm a regular and I've been about since 2015.

So I get married in 4 weeks time and I went for my makeup and hair trial not really knowing what i wanted (i know, i know) and at the time, I was really happy with what she did for me.

Since then, I've been looking through old photos and realised when I do my makeup another way in a particular style I always feel really confident and happy and when I look back at photos it's always when I'm dolled up in this particular way that I like. I also felt good with it the other way but I can't decide whether to go for another trial or not. I didn't request it at the trial because I thought it might be too much, but I'm second guessing now..

The photos aren't really a fair comparison as one is professional and one very much isnt, but can you tell me which you prefer? The not in full colour picture is the hair that goes with the red lipstick picture if that makes sense, I'd also like to know which hair you prefer?

I like the nude lip better but the eye makeup from the 3rd picture (the sepia one)

DeadDoorpost · 27/09/2017 14:54

And the hair from the sepia one as well. Just has to go back and double check I was getting that right.

bigredboat · 27/09/2017 14:56

I think the first picture is more bridal, a bit softer and more natural than the glam red lips. They both look nice and it depends what kind of vibe you're going, I personally think on your wedding day you don't want to look like you're on a night out but others might prefer a more glam look

Opheliasgoldenwine · 27/09/2017 14:56

You look lovely in all of them.

The first one is the one that, to me, is wedding makeup but that's not to say that the others can't be too. If you like it done differently then do what makes you happiest- you don't want to regret it Smile

Corbynsofficialcrotchuntangler · 27/09/2017 14:56

Thanks, I should probably also mention there's a 5 stone weight loss between the first 2 and the sepia one! I'm currently the weight i am in the sepia one :)

I like the first one (although you look lovely in all of them!)

It’s very soft and bridal

emsyj37 · 27/09/2017 15:00

I think red lips as a bride is perfectly fine, if that is how you wear your makeup. I do wedding makeup occasionally and I ask brides to come to the trial in their usual makeup so that I can see what's comfortable for them day to day. Your 50s flick liner and red lips will be perfect for you, as long as they are appropriate for your dress style. I had a 50s style dress and wish I'd worn victory rolls and cats eye liner instead of boring traditional hair and makeup.

2014newme · 27/09/2017 15:02

The first one is very Adele! You look lovely in all of them.

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 27/09/2017 15:02

Wow you look beautiful!
I like the makeup in all 3 pictures, but I reckon a combination of 1 and 3 is more suitable for a bride.

2014newme · 27/09/2017 15:03

Wow congratulations on you 5 Stone loss

gingergenius · 27/09/2017 15:03

Massively prefer pic 1: trained as a make up artist and a photographer and it will definitely look better in your pictures

HopeAndJoy16 · 27/09/2017 15:06

Well done on losing 5 stone, that's incredible! Definitely have your make up done in the style that makes you feel the most confident. You don't want to be worrying about your eyeliner/lipstick or whatever when you're meant to be enjoying your big day! Also you want to feel comfortable for your photos too. When I had my makeup trial she put the mascara on reeeeaaally heavily compared to how I usually wear it, so I asked if I could do it myself and she didn't have a problem with that. I also wore lipstick when I don't usually and just felt self conscious about it all day. Wish I'd just used a clear gloss instead x

My wedding MUA who was not a specific 'weddings' MUA (she does fashion shoots etc.) was very much of the opinion that make up should be soft and you should just look like a prettier version of you rather than made up. I always wear a cat eye flick with a black gel eyeliner but this was definitely a no no with my dress (grecian type, floaty, unstructured dress). She ended up doing a very soft brown, kohl line on my top lid with a very soft flick. Admittedly, I added some kohl to my waterline after she had left (can't suppress the rock chick in me!). The rest of the make up was very soft with a nude pink lipstick. What is your dress like OP?

LentilBaby · 27/09/2017 15:38

Ps. You have a very pretty face so I'm sure you will look lovely! ❤️

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 27/09/2017 16:09

They all look lovely. I prefer the softer hair in the third picture. They eye make up in that one is lovely too.
It kind of depends on what your dress is like though. I wore red lipstick at my own wedding i like it and it went with the ‘look’ I did have to wipe it off dh when we kissed though Biscuit there are some funny photos of that bit.

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 27/09/2017 16:10

No idea why a biscuit appeared in that post Confused

KickAssAngel · 27/09/2017 16:14

The first one is 'blushing bride' and the others are more 50s rockabilly night out.

What's your dress like? If it's all floaty lace and pretty flowers, the first one. If it's more fun/sexy/alternative, then the second look.

But either one is great.

Auntiedahlia · 27/09/2017 16:18

Five stone! Wow! Well done! You look lovely in all of them. Choose what you feel most confident in.

wobblywonderwoman · 27/09/2017 16:21

Wow !! Your so pretty

Well done on loss .. Send your tips this way Grin

The first. I love two for a night out and three is glam but one is bridal

wobblywonderwoman · 27/09/2017 16:21

You're

Corbynsofficialcrotchuntangler · 27/09/2017 16:23

This is the dress and the wedding overall is quite vintagey. I usually wear a flicked out eyeliner day to day!

Gorgeous dress you are going to be utterly stunning !

mintmagnummm · 27/09/2017 16:48

The make up in the first picture is stunning, very soft and perfected. If your usual look is flicked liner etc then it will be lovely for u to look different on your wedding day as it will really surprise your hubbie to be so I'd definitely go for make up in first pic. Not over keen on hair in that pic though Hmm
