Eye Creams...are they really important/ essential?!

I'm pretty beauty savvy and have v good skin (if I do say so myself) however, I have never used an eye cream should I be? (I'm 30) everyone, especially on here seems to think an eye cream is an essential part of a beauty routine.

So....do you use an eye cream? If so, what one and for what purpose? Do you notice any difference?

I read from derm blogs that it doesn't. You can just use your normal moisturizer (or an especially rich one) but you don't need one especially formulated for eyes. Rough Eye makeup application, scrubbing with makeup remover wipes, and not wearing sunglasses/sunscreen are what usually damages the eye area the most
Sometimes I feel like the whole double-cleansing, one moisturizer for everyday of the week, and eye cream advice is product marketing BUT of course I'm more than willing to be corrected w info from a few dermatologists to the contrary.

I stopped using them tbh as I couldn’t tell any difference.

Still can’t after not having used one for years now.

I’ve massively cut down my skincare regime and tbh I think my skin is better for it - less but more effective products.

Now I use a hot cloth cleanser, a serum/oil and a good moisturiser.

I’ve ditched toners, eye creams and exfoliants (a good scrub whilst cleansing seems to be gentler and just as effective).

I switch products about a bit but atm I use rodial stem cell cleanser (also like liz Earle and eve lom), Sunday Riley Artemis (also like Number 7 serum and Clarins facial oil) and M&S ultimate sleep cream (new find and love it, but also used eve lom, creme de la mer, rodial bee venom).

I buy cheap flannels on mass from amazon and change them daily. Job done :-)
