Well, my husband is certainly going to be pleased Grin

Seriously, I have TINY boobs! Like a small handful (though admittedly I have large hands...)

I'm aware I have been in the wrong size as none of my bras fit well but I've been in a 36B or even A for YEARS... can I really be an F?!

I followed the bra measuring instructions to the letter (boob or bust AND better bra campaign) and they both came up with the same answer...

Eeek. I will feel very odd trooping off to buy an F cup bra in the next few days... can it REALLY be right?!

Yes , definitely. I'm around a 32e/f and am not what I'd call big at all.

Go try one on and enjoy your well fitting bra :-)

SandunesAndRainclouds · 26/09/2017 20:24

You really can be! M&S had me put me in a 36B when I was breastfeeding and I was a 34G!

Non-pregnant or breastfeeding they put me in a 34A but I'm a 28/30E depending on brand...

Athrawes · 26/09/2017 20:24

I know! F sounds so impressive eh! But if you have done the measurement correctly your new bra will fit so well. I went from 34/36 c/b to 30 F. My husband was thrilled until he realised that it's just a number.

JessiCake · 26/09/2017 20:26

Ha! My husband's eyes will pop out of his head (he doesn't understand bra sizes but he 'knows' that higher letters are 'good') Confused

It's just that I barely fill a B cup! Though I accept that that is almost certainly down to the fact it doesn't fit so it's sittting in the wrong place to contain my boob.

Will go and try a few on somewhere and see how I get on...

[wonders off in wonderment to look at Bravissimo website...]

32F has same cup volume as 34E and 36DD and 38D, etc. Every F cup is not the same either e.g. A 30F is totally different to a 38F as the cup size is relative to the back size. Whatever the number your breasts are still the same size but will be better supported with a smaller back size and bigger cup.

ChesterFuckingDraws · 26/09/2017 20:29

Definitely right, may need some experimenting depending on brands but it will be a good starting point.
A group I follow on fb suggest the bad size should be around you clothes size plus 20 (so size10=30 band, size 12= 32 band etc), obviously there will be people this doesn’t work for my as a rough guide it’s reasonably accurate.
Bravissimo are really good at fitting bras if you have one local to you and really help you know what to look for in the perfect fitting bra.
Fairyboob mother and boob or bust are really informative Facebook pages too.

Don't double post...

JessiCake · 26/09/2017 20:45

Fluffysparks, sorry don't understand?

Ah Fluffy, I get the impression you may think I'm the same poster who posted the thread entitled Bra Fittings?

Nope not me.

As my OP said, I measured myself (after being directed to sites explaining how to do so on here). The OP in the other thread went to Debenhams.

She has a 17 month old. I have a 4 year old.

I'm not the same person. As I think is obvious from the fact that the only fact the threads have in common is our surprise at both ending up as a 32F.

Oh , sorry in that case, just thought the exact same sizings at the same time were a little weird Grin

imjessie · 28/09/2017 11:48

But. A 36b is quite big . I'm a 32 g and don't have massive boobs , quite big but not massive .

XiCi · 28/09/2017 11:54

I'm a bit baffled by you saying your boobs are tiny as I measured myself from the advice on here and also had a fitting at bravissimo, also 32F and my boobs are bloody massive!

Paintbox · 28/09/2017 12:33

Hmm xici, that is strange, a 32f doesn't notmally big boobs, although f sounds big. I'm a 32e and my boobs are small

WellTidy · 28/09/2017 12:38

I am a 30D according to the MN bra measuring guide and I am seriously flat chested. I had been wearing a 34A for years. But I am definitely a 'shallow chested' 30D. I definitely am not a 30D in every style of bra, and I've realised that balconette bras are good for me. M and s does a lightly padded balconette bra every season for £22.50 and I buy it in every colour.

DH thinks it is all hilarious. When I was a teenager, Pamela Anderson was said to be a D cup, and I couldn't be further from her shape at all.

Paintbox · 28/09/2017 12:41

Yes welltidy, it's always been the same, and cup is seen as big boobs but it isn't always, I read on here that saying a cup size is like saying the time is quarter past. Quarter past what? The cup size means nothing without the back size. So 28d isn't big but 40 d is

Paintbox · 28/09/2017 12:42

I meant "D"cup is seen as big

Paintbox · 28/09/2017 12:44

Some pretty famous bloggers are getting it wrong too. One of them
Was selling a bikini she hadn't worn but fitted her, she said it was a 32c but she is a size 6 in clothes. Nowhere near a 32 back. Another claims to have really big boobs because she is a d cup. That means nothing. Actually her boobs are quite big for her frame but she is tiny so probably a 28d

reetgood · 28/09/2017 12:48

I'd get your measurement backed up by a fitting if you can? I think it's really helpful to be able to 'see'/ feel what a good fit although you're prob aware from your research. I tend to do cup (am I bulging over the top or sides? Is the underwire on my breastbone?) then band (taut but not digging in). And I look at shape, too. Balconette bras don't really suit the shape of my breasts so I go for full cup.

But you say you don't 'full' a b cup. With a large band size I wonder if you're just a bit spread out. Your boobs can also fall out the bottom. I am currently wearing a 32gg after being measured (pregnant) and my boobs are noticeably big. I spill out of a b cup. One of the things I think it's useful to do is the lift and scoop when getting in your bra. Make sure the band is actually sitting on your ribs not your boob. If your boobs are popping out of the cup, that means it's too small. The cup would be too big if the cup is creasing or wrinkling?

Oblomov17 · 28/09/2017 12:53

I'm confused too. You say you don't fill a B cup. Is that because you were wearing say a 38B.
Now, Bravissimo etc/ the trend is to go UP in the cup, down in the back.

But a F cup is certainly 'hearty'!! Grin

Paintbox · 28/09/2017 12:55

Filling a cup is also about bra and boob shape. I wear balconette as my boobs are bottom heavy with little fullness at the top so I don't fill a full cup bra even in the right size

TheDowagerCuntess · 28/09/2017 13:11

When I first measured myself, I came out as a 32 F or G, and was incredulous.

We have a shit range of bra sizes here, so I wasted a fair amount of money ordering from overseas.

I'm a 32E in spite of what the measurements tell me, as my breasts aren't very full.
