How to wear brown boots?

I've just bought a pair of beautiful conker-brown knee-high boots which I love. However, now I'm getting cold feet about how much I'll wear them. I usually wear black boots with black tights and then skirts/dresses in a variety of colours - black, blue, red, etc. I'm now wondering how much the brown boots will go with and whether I should swap them for black - or should I just branch out a bit more and mix up the colours?

Don't swap them!

They sound lovely and very seasonal. Nice subtle clash with navy or do the whole shades of autumn thing.

Confer brown boots can look great with an all black outfit. Chic.

I'm in the market for a lovely pair of conker brown boots myself. Plan on wearing them over skinnies, leggings and tea dresses, under a pencil skirt. I'll be wearing them with black clothes, no worries at all. Have you a link to yours?

SerfTerf · 26/09/2017 06:36

I can't find enough images with the right colour Boots quickly enough. But these colour combos all work, I think.

MissHemsworth · 26/09/2017 06:38

Ooooo OP my fave kind of boot! They will near enough go with anything. What sort of style are they, you post a pic?

Caulkheadupnorf · 26/09/2017 06:44

I always wear brown boots!

Usually I have navy or grey tights, or with jeans but they usually look fine with black tights tbh.

InvisibleKittenAttack · 26/09/2017 06:48

Also checking in for the link to the OPs new boots!!!

InvisibleKittenAttack · 26/09/2017 06:51

Sorry forgot to help answer your question!

Swap the tights for other colours - thin nude while it's not too cold, then brown or navy thick ones.

They will go with absolutely everything, my favourite being an all black outfit (i.e. slim black trousers and slouchy black knitwear). Fabulous with navy and all lovely autumn colours.

AuntieStella · 26/09/2017 07:04

The linked images are either ankle boots, or not dark enough to be conker brown.

I don't conker brown works with navy, you'd be better off with the sorts of neutrals plus black in the second linked image, because although those are a paler shade of brown the it's likely to still work; plus some greens/reds.

I don't like wearing brown boots with an all black outfit. Doesn't work IMO. But brown boots with rich colours or autumn colours work really well. Black tights are fine between the boots and the colours - make the colours look richer IMO.

Hmmm...think I might get my brown boots out today...the weather's turned...Smile

I am an autumn so brown boots go with most of the earthy colours in my wardrobe. I wear them with brown or nude tights. Or occasionally I wear them with a black and brown outfit (I know some people say the two colours don't go 5ogegjer but then think of all the elegant Milanese wearing brown/black/tortoiseshell outfits)

iismum · 26/09/2017 08:28

Thanks so much for all the advice! I'm definitely going to keep them now - in fact, just about to put them on when I set off for work in a few minutes.

These are the ones:

Oh they'll look lovely with tights, short dresses and chunky cardigans as well as winter knits and blue skinny jeans. Great boots!

GoodyGoodyGumdrops · 26/09/2017 11:46

Classic. I had a very similar pair. Loved them.

Arseface · 26/09/2017 11:50

In the same way you wouldn't think of jeans as blue trousers, you don't have to think of brown leather boots as 'brown'.

They're a bit like denim, you can use them as a neutral base.

Those Sainsbury's ones are lovely keepon, as are the ones the op has got. I've got some brown leather Sains ones from a couple of yrs ago and they're still going strong. As I tend to wear lots of black, these are a bit of a change for me and I do still wear them with black. Mine are darker than those though and today I'm wearing them with dark brown thick tights and a taupe coloured knitted dress, often wear them with navy or grey knitted tights too do they are useful and also look good with jeans tucked in. As someone else said, think of them as a neutral rather than 'brown' iyswim
