Birchbox.... worth it?

I've got really bad about buying beauty products and stuck in a bit of a rut with fairly low end products. Do any of you use birchbox? If so do you find it's worth the commitment?

I only ordered & received about 6 boxes then cancelled.

You do receive some nice things but only miniature samples mostly, there was nothing I bought again. I cancelled as I'm trying to save a bit of cash with impending maternity leave.

Think what I'm trying to say is that I'd rather buy a few recommended treats... things I've seen in magazines etc although it was nice to get a parcel every month.
