I love this, very similar to a designer one I can't afford but M&S have styled it horrifically and it's put me right off. Have I reached old lady style without realising or does M and S have a nice blazer but no idea how to sell it? Guide me mumsneters!!

It's potentially quite nice with slim 7/8 trousers or jeans. The checked skirt they've styled it with makes it awful!!

PaperdollCartoon · 23/09/2017 16:38

Yeh it's nice, just needs better styling as you say.

Trills · 23/09/2017 16:41

Looks very 80s.

Which may be the look you are going for.

Loyly · 23/09/2017 16:45

M&S have styled it terribly. Styled like the Balmain one is, it could look good.

EnidButton · 23/09/2017 17:08

I really don't like the buttons but I'm not a fan of double breasted anything or gold metal. It looks like it should be worn with white linen trousers and a jaunty captains hat whilst cruising on your motorboat that you bought with your retirement savings.

EnidButton · 23/09/2017 17:09

Or like you work in a travel agency with a staff uniform.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/09/2017 17:16

I don't like it, sorry. I think the gold buttons make it look really cheap, and knowing M&S lately, the fabric isn't likely to be good either.

imjessie · 23/09/2017 18:26

I had one like that in the 80's!!

Silverstreaks · 23/09/2017 18:30

Channelling the 80s.
Expensive irony.

Imamiddleclasstwat · 24/09/2017 07:24

Loyly- It's the Balmain one I really want! This is a great copy! I know it would look great with skinnies but it just looks so naff on the M and S website!

It's very this.

What do you think of this blazer?
Joinourclub · 24/09/2017 08:14

I don't like it, but yes I think it is a good approximation of the Balmain one. You could always replace the buttons.

CountFosco · 24/09/2017 08:27

I think the Balmain one looks good. M&S are horrendous at styling clothes, I have to ignore their pictures while I buy their stuff. They seem to think we're all middle aged women from the 80s rather than middle aged women in the teens (what decade are we????).

I think if the M&S one fits well (you'll probably have to size down) then it could look good but the real test will be when you put it on.

Pinkvici22 · 24/09/2017 08:54

I bought it last week and I'm really pleased with it! I've work it with a plain white All Saints T, blue skinniest and tan bag and heels. I also had an Alexander McQueen scarf on in the morning and got a few compliments. For the price I think it's great!

SpeakerOfTheHouse · 24/09/2017 08:57

just ordered it - i'll see if theyv'e nailed it or bang off course again! Love the Balmain original - can't afford the £££..

Lucked · 24/09/2017 09:01

I am waiting for delivery of it. Jennifer Aniston used to wear the Balmain one with jeans all the time and I have always liked it.

Ttbb · 24/09/2017 09:07

The thing about blazers is if they are not cut perfectly they look like a cheap costume.

Pinkvici22 · 24/09/2017 09:22

Agree blazers need to be cut well. I'm busty so double breasted doesn't usually work for me but this does Wink

Imamiddleclasstwat · 24/09/2017 21:01

I have ordered it, it's nearly sold out now! I tried it in the shop and it did seem to be cut well.
Just need some good quality tees to go under it if anyone can recommend?

I tried it instore, looked like a BA stewardess.

Pinkvici22 · 25/09/2017 07:01

It's definitely about how you style it!

My t shirts are mostly All Saints and Topshop.

Hope you like it OP!
