What products do you love?

Anyone a fan of the midnight recovery oil? I really want to try it but it's so expensive! Is it worth it?!

Yes - love it. Use it all the time. I also use their ultra moisturiser too. I get the 100ml bottle and it lasts ages.

LentilBaby · 22/09/2017 20:35

I adore it! Skin looks so amazingly bright, moisturised and rested in the morning. Buy it!!

gastropod · 23/09/2017 06:42

I love the midnight serum. Since I started using it (and the daytime one in the morning) I gave up using any other moisturiser and my skin is really smooth, no dry patches, no irritation, no spots.
It lasts for ages as well.
Now I can't stand the feel of "normal" moisturisers on my skin!

TashieWoo · 23/09/2017 09:28

I am v tempted by the midnight recovery oil - my skin isn't too bad now it's cleared up (finally at the age of 29) but lately it's just looked a bit tired, rough and has lost its glow. Would this help me or could it cause breakouts?

HeyJudy · 23/09/2017 09:38

Does anyone know if they are good with samples? There is a store near me and would like to try the midnight recovery oil before committing to a purchase.

I used to use the ultra moisturiser as a teenager and it was really nice.

sleepwhenidie · 23/09/2017 09:41

They are usually very good with samples. I love the midnight recovery oil and the ultra moisturiser cream. Calendula face wash is also fantastic, not just for oily/combination skin as it says on the bottle, my dry skin loves it.

over40andpregnant · 23/09/2017 09:44

Love their ultra moisturiser and their serum too
They will always give samples

sleepwhenidie · 23/09/2017 09:44

Tashie I also really rate Caudalie radiance serum for restoring glow. The midnight recovery is incredibly soothing and calming, I wouldn't say 'glowy' so much - but the kiehls daytime oil might help you there, also lovely. These have never caused an outbreak for me.

LentilBaby · 23/09/2017 10:29

Tashie I'm not sure if it would cause breakouts. Definitely pick up a sample. They are usually very generous. The other product I use is the avocado eye cream which I really like.

Pastacube · 23/09/2017 10:30

I love slapping the musk on but can't persuade dh to use it he says it smells like a toilet :(

thisfalseinsight · 24/09/2017 07:47

Their hand cream is ace; it's one of the few that's genuinely moisturising and long-lasting but absorbs really quickly and doesn't make your hands sticky/greasy. I also love the Original Musk perfume; it's fairly subtle but quite cosy and sexy!

Pistachiois50pmore · 24/09/2017 08:51

The Midnight Recovery Oil is brilliant and although it's expensive I think it's better than ones I've tried that are even more expensive like Sunday Riley.

Ultra facial cream is a great all-rounder moisturiser and incidentally the only stuff my DP will use (he has dry skin but hates fragranced or heavy creams).

They are ridiculously amazing with samples, go to a counter or a store and have a chat if you can!

For shower/body type stuff the whole Coriander scented range is incredible.

crumpet · 24/09/2017 08:55

I have recently discovered that Kiehls ls is part of the loreal group which is still testing products in rabbits eyes. So, much as I love their face cream and sun cream, it's off my list.

Longislandicetee · 24/09/2017 09:02

Khiels stuff is fantastic. I have very dry skin and their creme de corps is just amazing. I switch to it at this time of the year and it keeps the skin moisturised through out autumn winter. Their Pineapple Papaya facial scrub is terrific. They're probably the most generous shop about samples, although more so in the US than the UK.

wizzywig · 24/09/2017 09:41

I use their ultra face wash. It lasts for ages

straighttalker · 24/09/2017 18:59

Thanks for mentioning that crumpet.

I had been tempted by the midnight recovery oil, reading this thread, but I've checked and Kiehl's do still test on animals due to restrictions on selling products in China otherwise.

Disappointed - but I'll find another more ethical company!

PollyPerky · 24/09/2017 19:01

I think they are a bit style over substance personally. Quite highly perfumed?
Same group as Estee Lauder.

allthecheese · 24/09/2017 19:43

@crumpet L'Oreal absolutely don't test on animals.

In fact, they created a fake skin so realistic that the Chinese government have agreed that testing can now be on this, not on animals. L'Oreal has shared how to make this with other companies. This has been the case since 2015.

And midnight oil is awesome!

LentilBaby · 24/09/2017 20:17

@allthecheese That's really interesting. Kind of creepy the thought of this company producing 2 humans worth of skin a week from waste skin cells Confused But a much better option than mice and rabbits!

MamaJaye · 24/09/2017 22:59

Ooh ok thanks everyone! Payday treat for me then!

Fakingit36 · 24/09/2017 23:18

I got hold of the midnight oil 2 weeks ago after a recommendation here and I have to say it's wonderful. Worth the money and I wish I'd had it when pregnant and bfing which was when I had awful roscea.

crumpet · 25/09/2017 12:37

A quick google suffers otherwise - their ingredients according to PETA which come from China are required by Chinese regulation to have been tested on animals. L'Oréal's own statement says they don't test unless legally required to.

Of course that quick google for me has now opened up a new avenue of understanding what cosmetics suppliers do use Chinese products...

crumpet · 25/09/2017 12:38

Suggests not suffers!

A

Nuttynoo · 25/09/2017 12:39

I use it on my face and hair. Really good. And it lasts ages - had it 2 years and I’m not even half way in the bottle!
