A really nice pair of tall trousers - ?

Looking for trousers (maybe tweedy with a turnup), a bit like these. The crucial thing is a fitted straight or slightly tapered leg. I don't want them to cling at the ankle like skinnies/leggings, but don't want a flare either.

Yesterday after trying on a gazillion pairs the penny dropped that I might need tall sizes - ? I'm 5'8" and sadly don't have legs for miles, but I think maybe my waist-to-crotch measurement is long. If a 14 fits in the leg it pulls at the crotch, and if a 16 fits in the bum, the waist/legs are too big or there is an odd sagging in the crotch.

In desperation I bought these, which I now fear are a bit crimplene trouser suit (aarrgh) and/or too casual. I went out this morning wearing them with t-bar clogs and on reflection I think I looked like a tit it didn't work.

So my questions are:

  1. Does anyone sell really nice tall trousers? I can only find leggings/jeggings/skinnies and an endless variety of black polyester.
  2. Is it worth buying a larger pair of normal trousers and having them altered? I have no idea how difficult it would be to remove that crotch sag or if they'd even look good etc.
