fluffy hair - help!

I have thick hair with a bit of a wave in it, medium length. The front of it behaves and is usually relatively silky looking but from my ears back my hair is really fluffy and has random waves in it. I wouldn't mind the waves if it wasn't fluffy. But the fluffiness is a bit coarser compared to the rest of my hair. I don't have a huge amount of money and I'm fairly lazy - I wash and condition (intensive conditioner, both dove) and dry with hair dryer. What can I put on it once it is dry to de-fluff it? It's getting worse as I get older (I'm 43 if that makes any difference). Help me please!

I would try leaving off the hairdryer (or maybe on cold with a diffuser thingy!). Also if you wash every day try going for less. I wash mine once a week or every 4 days if it's dirty, when I've been in town. It's not greasy though.

I use the most natural products I can find (Mistry are amazing and cheap) Even stuff like Dove usually has SLS in it which was invented to strip grease off garage floors! Also with softened water.

Also use a light oil like sweet almond oil or jojoba on the fluffy ends of your hair after washing. Just a tiny amount rubbed into your hands then lightly on your hair.

Try some castor oil. There is a thread on here somewhere about it. I already had some in and I mixed it 50:50 with sweet almond oil, put it on the roots only, put my hair in a bun/pineapple overnight and washed it out in the morning. (it's very thick and sticky so the almond oil thins it slightly)
It left my hair silky and smooth. Had a few people notice and comment on it so it's not just me that thinks so. Fab stuff. I got mine from an asian supermarket.

I only wash my hair once maybe twice a week at most. Its still fluffy and because its not totally straight it looks a bit odd if its not blow dried. Will try the cold setting and diffuser in future.
Interesting about the oils, I'll look into that. And I've never heard of Mistry, is it available fairly easily?

When I say blow dried, I don't mean using a brush, I just use my hands and the dryer so it shouldn't be stretched or something (if that makes sense )

get a keratin treatment!

What is a keratin treatment? Do I do this or does the hairdresser? I feel like I've been living under a rock!

Mine's a bit like that, there's a kink at the back and it looks a bit bedheady. A hair oil tames it.
I also do the castor oil/argan oil/coconut treatment thing, which drastically improves the overall condition of it.

Or a little hair oil, I tend to switch out between Chi silk infusion, John Freida argan oil, and coconut oil.

Mistry and jojoba oil is much cheaper if you're watching the pennies

@ErnieAndBernie it is sometimes a hairdresser thing but I have recently done my first myself (I am quite DIY but i do have a lot of hair! time consuming but easy so i suppose it depends whether you have time or money in most supply) and am so impressed with results!! i bought a kit on amazon.

I've been using redken all soft oil. It's done wonders for my hair. Better than frizz ease.

I think you get more in a bottle but need less.

@abigailgabble which kit did you buy? I've been wanting to get one but didn't know if it would work.

@99blueballoons i had one which is now sold out (brazilian something or other) but i've been assured by another poster on here that the cocochoco pure total repair is the same thing and a bottle of that is currently on its way to me!

Hair oil either a tiny bit after drying or loads before washing. You can get specially formulated ones for applying after drying but if you want to do it before you wash I reccomend rosehip. I have the same problem-ten minutes in rosehip oil before washing and drying as normal makes a huge difference.
