...please could it not be black!
I know, first world problems etc, but when it's dark and cold it makes it even more gloomy when everyone looks like they're at a funeral. Last winter I started counting coats when bored on the tube and it was generally something like 10 black, 2 grey, 2 navy and a khaki. Was there a law I missed that made it illegal to wear colours in winter?

My thoughts exactly OP
Winter is dull enough here ( in Ireland) without adding to its greyness.
Who dictated that we must wear dark gloomy colours in winter ???

Love this. I have brown, royal blue, teal (black velvet trim) and heather. My only black outdoor coats are opera ones (so velvet or trimmed with gold soutache etc.)

@angelomysterioso this one is not sunshine yellow, more mustard but it is fitted/flared so perhaps it might hit the spot? www.emmydesign.se/en/webshop/autumn-winter-2017/outerwear-suit-jackets/the-old-hollywood-princess-coat-mustard-pure-wool.html

(I have a fondness for all things yellow so when I read your post, it reminded me of this!)

My only black coat is my dog walking winter coat. Otherwise I have a tweed, a brown that's quite red, a white, a plaid (dull colours but nice check pattern), and a moss. coloured coat. I think black is exceptionally practical and boring and I think "pop of colour" scarves look awful. looove my coats!

It's hunting season where I live so although I'd prefer charcoal and cocoa brown (boring colors that don't overpower me and go with everything) I do red plaid . Can't stomach orange but that would also be a smart option.

Yes I am a fan of a bright coloured coat and do have moan about all the blandness of black...then went and bought a lovely black coat last year Grin.

I have a bright purple-ey swishy coat that I love

There is a UK based mental health charity that urges people to wear brighter clothing in winter to help allay the 'blues'.
