I want a big meriangue wedding dress btw I am young and its a big church wedding so bare with me in terms of bigness etc.

So I liked this a lot but it was a bit asymetrical-
dress 1

I loved this one - I keep thinking about it, its very much what I imagined I would like. Will def try on again.
dress 2

I really liked this one, its very 'fluffy' (ie the skirt looks like a duvet) for my tastes but I felt fab in it, really princessy and it was flattering, and now I am home I can't stop thinking about it!! Please ignore the colour in the picture! I would have ivory. I would want to try it on again but I wonder if its the one?
dress 3

What do you think?

Lace is ALWAYS lovely (can you guess what I had?!)

PeachyChocolateEClair · 05/04/2007 22:29

Dress two is very, very elegant and you would look like a film star.

I'm not as diametrically opposed to dress 3 as the ohers, but its probably OTT for a Chutch bash.

1 was OK, but very same-old.

HotXMum · 05/04/2007 22:29

Hmm, I think you would be best suited to somat under the bust, princess line. This style gives you height and takes the emphasis away from the ample bosom.

Smurfgirl · 05/04/2007 22:29

LOL Aloha - friend is v.v.untactful. The most blunt person I know! But I know what you are saying.

Hmm.
same top, different skirt?

smurfy, you look very pretty in the link you posted. what time of year are you getting married? You can always have a wrap over your arms like in you picture if you are concious of your arms and you fall in love with a particular dress.

Good luck, it's nerve-wracking innit?

LittleEasterLapin · 05/04/2007 22:29

Smurfgirl - from one, er, "not tall" person to another , I think all the detail on number 3 might swamp you. Number 2 is much more elegant and lengthening

Aloha · 05/04/2007 22:30

I think you'd really suit a little 50s style shrug with a strapless dress, to draw attention to your face.

twinsetandpearls · 05/04/2007 22:30

didn't mean to offend but it is hard to carry of a strapless if your arms are not toned.

SlightlyMadSpringBunny · 05/04/2007 22:31

I went to a wedding where the bride had something similarish to No3. It looked very stunning & 'different' for hte first 30 mins and then bugged me and most of the guests for the rest of the day.

Having said that - it is of course your wedding and your dress.

My fav is actually No 1, but appreciate you have ruled that one out. No 2 is a bit plain for me personally - but we all have our own tastes...

twinsetandpearls · 05/04/2007 22:31

Good idea Aloha, I tend to do shrug with strapless.

dandasmummy · 05/04/2007 22:32

Yes. Dress 4 is better than dress 3.

LittleEasterLapin · 05/04/2007 22:32

another vote for shrug or wrap... also, what time of year are you getting married?

Aloha · 05/04/2007 22:32

sort of like this

Smurfgirl · 05/04/2007 22:33

I want a bolero thingy for the church anyway, i am catholic and would feel a bit naked in front of the priest in strapless!

I do have bad scars on my arms but they are part of me, my family knows about them, my boyfriend loves me and knew me before and after I had them so I feel no desire to hide them away.

Aloha - to draw attention to my face or away from my big bum

I prefer 2. Tbh I would like to see what dress 3 looked like in ivory, perhaps it's the pink that makes it look so awful?

PeachyChocolateEClair · 05/04/2007 22:33

Dress 4 makes even the model look slightly bizarre in a barbie-doll- with- broken-joints sorta way

PinkTulips · 05/04/2007 22:34

blondi... so i wasn't the only one checking out the rest of the dresses!

love this one

this is quite lie no 3 but not pink so doesn't look as awful

this is my personal favourite so far

HotXMum · 05/04/2007 22:35

maybe this

Smurfgirl · 05/04/2007 22:35

Its October (next year ) so I know I need some sort of cover up.

luciemule · 05/04/2007 22:35

the last picture with the same top/different skirt is very nice too.
Just remember that your wedding dress is just that - your wedding dress and I wouldn't dismiss any of them from our comments - go back and try them on again but take into account the views from this thread and see if you change your mind. I think you're brave asking strangers' opinions about your own wedding dress: a bit like asking people what baby names they like - it's very very personal.

paddingtonbear1 · 05/04/2007 22:35

no 2 is growing on me. my friend had a similar-ish one for her wedding, but short sleeved not strapless. She had a wrap to go with it as she has a scar on one of her arms. At the reception she started off with it on... then as the night wore on it soon got forgotten!

LittleEasterLapin · 05/04/2007 22:36

Smurfgirl, I had the same thing (bish and I wore matching "cerise" stoles

ooh, this is exciting, I want to get married again, it was so much fun!

CarGirl · 05/04/2007 22:36

pink tulips personal favourite is yummy - nicer shape with the little strap bits too

twinsetandpearls · 05/04/2007 22:36

with the exception of the pink they are beuatiful, almost makes me want to rush down the ailse

PeachyChocolateEClair · 05/04/2007 22:36

i like this
