Running trainers

I need some stability running shoes for the gym, as my feet are practically flat. All the ones I have found are pink/ neon/ flashy. Sine I am going to spend £££ on them, it would be nice to have something that look good outside the gym too. Here is a good example of what I don't like: www.brooksrunning.com/en_gb/brooks-ravenna-8-womens-running-shoes/120238.html?dwvar_120238_color=622&dwvar_120238_width=B#start=5

Oh, I meant to say: "any suggestions please?"!

I was going to come on and recommend Brooks trainers. I have a pair and they are fairly plain. I agree those are fugly.

LEMtheoriginal · 19/09/2017 21:56

I overpronate and they are really supportive

KatharinaRosalie · 19/09/2017 21:56

check mens' trainers instead, lot less pink and sparkly

BeastofCraggyIsland · 19/09/2017 22:44

I have several pairs of Salomon running shoes and really rate them. Speedcross for proper trail or fell running and XA Pro 3Ds for general/ multi purpose use. They come in an amazing range of colours too.

Itscurtainsforyou · 19/09/2017 23:08

I have brooks men's trainers (big feet here) and they are much less garish.

123rd · 19/09/2017 23:18

I'm a size 8 and always go to the 'mens' section first for trainers.

Nettletheelf · 20/09/2017 01:11

Another vote for Brooks. I buy men's too (size 8). I supinate (we've got all the pronation styles represented tonight, haven't we?) and I find that Brooks help to keep me running 'neutral'.

BTW the personal trainer I sometimes see says that you shouldn't use running trainers in the gym (except for treadmilling, obviously) because they tend to have bigger heel pads that tilt your feet downwards. He says it's better to have separate shoes for the gym, with a flatter platform.

Lazyi · 22/09/2017 20:40

Thanks very much all, will check out the men's. Nettle, I know, I have been told to avoid running trainers for weights, but I run, and do quite a few high impact classes, any suggestions?

Assics !!

Itsraininagain · 22/09/2017 22:54

Saucony.

LoveVelo · 23/09/2017 08:57

I like Asics, but find they tend to tear in the upper mesh. I've had Adidas Pure Boost which are brilliant for support and very light. I did find I needed to go a size up though.

Dailystuck71 · 23/09/2017 09:01

I'd go to a specialist running shop and have them properly fitted for your feet and running style. My last ones were £100.

Nyancat · 23/09/2017 09:26

I have asics for overpronation. Decathlon had a fab pair bright pink but really reduced in the sale. I'd go for them and then buy another pair of trainers for not running. I was undecided between the asics and the brooks you linked to and a pair of hoka one one arahis

Nyancat · 23/09/2017 09:29

Can't see them online now but the new version of the asics GT 2000 on decathlon is black with a flash of colour.

Lazyi · 23/09/2017 12:41

Thanks! I have been to a specialist running shop, but they just aren't very nice! If I'm spending 100£+, I would like to get something I can wear later (when I have run them out) that actually look nice! I know I'm being fussy, but there must be some trainers that are handsome and good for feet! Thanks everyone for responding!

I did exactly that and the guy looked me like I was bonkers but frankly I don't want fugly white £150 shoes!! My assics are bright pink and super comfy !! If you are anywhere near gunwharf there is an outlet and I got mine for £50 instead of £130

imjessie · 23/09/2017 13:03

I have very tricky feet , my assics are the gel ones and are super comfy ft and supportive !! My gym instructors recommend them !

Liz38 · 23/09/2017 21:03

I have those exact Brooks! I look a sight within about 2 minutes of starting running so my feet are the least of my worries Grin dd7 loves them though. None of which was helpful at all.

Lazyi · 23/09/2017 22:17

Ha ha, my 4 year old almost persuaded me to get them!
