Hush returns not free?

Internetaddict17 · 18/09/2017 13:22

I've just returned a parcel and assumed free returns but I was charged £11.

I cannot find anything on Hush's website to suggest returns aren't free outside of sale times.

I won't bother ordering again if it's going to cost me.

why did you assume free returns?

Whitney168 · 18/09/2017 13:28

Returns are free to Hush, unless in sale.

Internetaddict17 · 18/09/2017 13:30

I assumed free as most places are and there's nothing on their website to suggest you have to pay.

I had this with Hush once (have only ordered from them twice!) and i emailed them to query why I didn't have a free returns label.

They sent me one by email as it should have been included with the invoice. Not that this helps you much now though, as you've already paid....sorry.

The website says returns are NOT free OUTSIDE of sale times so if this wasn't in sale, I would complain and get your money back

Paintbox · 18/09/2017 13:53

Sorry I'm an idiot, it says they are not free in sale times so complain! That surely means they are free outside of sale times

ilovecherries · 18/09/2017 14:48

They are certainly free in the uk. It sounds though that the package was heavy if it cost you £11? The label only covers you for 5Kg - above that you need to email them and they send you a different label. I've found hush CS very responsive and helpful. They are a tad slow in processing returns imo - well within the timescale they mention, but about two days longer than I'd like, but otherwise I've found them great to deal with. I had a problem with a previous return and it was dealt with within hours.

Bombardier25966 · 18/09/2017 15:09

Did the label have postage paid details on it, or was it an address with nothing else on it?

Internetaddict17 · 18/09/2017 15:36

It wasn't a heavy parcel. It was a small box with a pair of trousers and a top.

The label just had the address and a bar code. I looked on their website and it looked like returns were free. So, stupidly, I went off to the post office thinking maybe the bar code contained info on the return postage.
I don't usually bother with post office returns.

£11 was for Special Delivery .

OP posts:
Paintbox · 18/09/2017 16:07

I wonder if it was postage already paid but you chose to send it special delivery?

Internetaddict17 · 18/09/2017 16:35

No. I asked at the counter first as like I said I had assumed (hoped) it was some new type of label with the free postage info in the barcode or something!

. I chose Special delivery because once I had told them there was £100 worth of clothes in the box he tried to charge me a lot more for insured delivery!

Well the website def says that returns aren't free during sale time so as long as this wasn't in the sale time, you should get your money back if you complain

PericardiumOne · 18/09/2017 17:03

I had the same thing - bought a few items of the new season, used the return label that came with the parcel, and when I went to the Post Office I was informed that this was not a pre-paid label and I had to cough up £7. I kept a receipt and intend to email them and ask for a refund.

Nearlyadoctor · 18/09/2017 18:02

There is normally a label on the bottom of the invoice which is not a free return label just an address label and then a separate one in the parcel which is free returns. I order from Hush about 10-15 times a year and have never had to pay for returns!

neveradullmoment99 · 20/09/2017 16:37

I wonder if they forgot to put one in your parcel. I also keep my free returns labels and use them later!!! Why did you pay for special delivery? Signed for would have been fine.

Internetaddict17 · 20/09/2017 17:42

Peri- let me know if you do get a refund!

I went with Special delivery because the guy told me I needed insurance. I should have questioned it but I never use the PO so didn't.

I've had quite a few orders where they forgot to include the free returns label. I usually email them and ask or search around to see if I have a spare one in my receipts paperwork.

OP if you email them a copy of your postage receipt, I'm sure they will reimburse you. They have done so for me in the past.

Gingefringe · 20/09/2017 18:20

i normally order stuff from my local John Lewis so I can return to the store if needed - sorry not helpful I know but may be a future option if you have a JL nearby.

neveradullmoment99 · 20/09/2017 19:10

The Post office is very good at convincing you to pay for dearer products. They did similar to my dh. £11 is really a ridiculous amount for a return and no wonder you are annoyed about the postage. Usually proof of posting is adequate for a return. Most companies would refund you if you had that and your parcel went astray.
