Really smart, high quality work flats

Can anyone recommend a place for getting sturdy but beautiful flats? My go to places were Ferragamo, the Russell and Bromley but now I'm feeling priced out of there too. The flats I like seem to cost £250+. Has anyone got any ideas where to shop? I've had a look in some high street shops but found the shoes ill-fitting, unflattering (Wide size 8 feet) and/or flimsy...

Watching with interest. LK Bennett ones are lovely but some of them can feel quite flimsy

I saw some LK Bennetts for about £190 but I did get that flimsy impression too...

My go-to work flats at Russell & Bromley are their Ferragamo knockoffs - Smoothie 2 - which are £175.

Other than that, I'm also in the market for some nice work flats that aren't brogues/loafers.

I buy online and order from Zalando. They have a huge variation of price ranges, an easy to use website and lots of size 8 shoes.

I got a lovely pair of flats from Dune, they were lasting well until I go caught in that torrential rain the other week 🙄

Shoe Embassy online. Excellent quality, fully leather shoes, very comfortable, all under £100

JoJoSM2 · 18/09/2017 13:10

G1988, I think they've also introduced some wider styles now - I could give those a try.

Ruby, that's good to hear. The few pairs I grabbed all seemed to be a lot more. I could part with £175 for an amazing pair. Just to think that got you real Ferragamos 10 years ago!

Notafish, are there any particular brands that they stock and you find good?

I tend not to pay more than £60 for shoes so don't look at their more high end brands. The most recent shoes I have bought were Kiomi because their size EU42 fits me perfectly. I'm more like an 8.5 UK size since having children. I also have narrow ankles and heels. Many shoe manufacturers increase the size of their shoe to the same ratio all over, so the longer the shoe, the wider they make it at the back. Kiomi slip on shoes actually stay on my feet at the back.

Blue Velvet shoes.

Excellent quality and sturdy too.

AdoraBell · 18/09/2017 14:50

I'm also looking for smart flat shoes. Have no ideas to offer, sorry.

Squashit · 18/09/2017 14:55

Is it this sort of thing you are after? Red is very fashionable this year 😁

Don't be tempted by Long Tall Sally OP. I was (wide 8 or 9) - twice - and the quality of their shoes is terrible!

Squashit · 18/09/2017 15:00

I have had these and they are good quality. Slightly higher vamp than most ballerinas but with a well constructed leather sole which I think is reasonable for £75.

what about these www.johnlewis.com/carvela-match-tassel-loafers/p3279934?colour=Navy

Thank you ladies! You're giving me hope Smile

Squashit, guess what - that's the sort of stuff that I'd wear. I even have a pair of two-tone flats like that and my most beloved pair for the last two years is almost identical to the red ones (but in black). I do swear I don't look like the Queen of Dorks Grin

Clarks.

Some of them are surprisingly good - I particularly love my pink suede almost brogues.

I wear Hamble oaks for the daily trudge into the office.
