How would you recreate this make up look for my wedding?

Some of you may have seen my post yesterday about a disaster of a trial with a make up artist for my wedding including eyebrows like McDonalds arches

I'm going to do my make up myself so my plan so far is something like the pic below but with eyeliner only on the top lid. I have similar colouring to the model but about ten times uglier sadly

So far I'm going with:

  • Dermalogica hydra blur primer
  • Estée Lauder double wear foundation and powder applied with beauty blender
  • Benefit hoola bronzer
  • I have a Dior palette with similar eye colours plus Kitten eyeshadow by Stila for a little sparkle (lovely warm gold colour)
  • Dior pen eyeliner which stays quite well
  • Eyebrows will he done with Wunderbrow

I'm having a full set of eyelash extensions so don't need to worry about mascara except for a bit on lower lashes.

Does anyone have any tips on:

  • good blusher?
  • highlighter?
  • a great nude lipstick?
  • any other products that would be your must have as a bride?

Any general tips on achieving the look below?

Be careful with blusher colours. If you have a yellow undertone to your skin you will need to buy a peachy blusher, otherwise you will end up lookzing like a clown. That is as far as my make advice and knowledge extends I am afraid.

PhilippeFlop · 17/09/2017 20:52

Benefits high beam highlighter and Mac peachykeen blusher

NashvilleQueen · 17/09/2017 20:54

Charlotte Tilbury have a lovely nude colour. Hold on ....

katienana · 17/09/2017 20:57

Try Estee lauder dune rose lipstick. Love that make up look by the way

Dontknowwhattodonowok · 17/09/2017 20:58

You'll need a good pencil in your lash line as even though you're having extensions, there will still be gaps on your lash/water line. So get a good pencil- kevyn aucoin do a great one, as this is a look which has quite heavy eyes.

Have you thought about some of the colours in the Naked Heat palette? And what about an eyeshadow primer? If you have oily skin like I have, it tends to crease/slide off!

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk with matching lip liner would be perfect with this colour. And I suggest a Becca highlighter- she does a liquid one which is perfect!

NashvilleQueen · 17/09/2017 20:59

Any of these are lovely

The lady in the photo is a beauty blogger called Teni. She has loads of tutorials on her YouTube channel and I found bridal one done by her MUA friend which matches you pic I think?

eyebrowseyebrows · 17/09/2017 21:08

@Dontknowwhattodonowok

Eyeshadow primer is a good call...I do have oily skin so will definitely need that and will get some make up setting spray too.

Aren't the Naked Heat colours quite red? I'm not sure the red tones to them would suit me but I do have a mini version of Naked 1 or 2 (I forget which) that I can look at using...

@MooMinCow

Ooooh! Thanks, I couldn't find who she was. Will definitely watch that YouTube tutorial!

Also remember to do your wedding make heavier than you would do normally otherwise you will look washed out.
Give yourself at least double the time to do your make up than you would normally.
Most important practise runs before the big day.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 17/09/2017 23:02

Waterproof mascara a must too!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 17/09/2017 23:05

And Eyebrows I too used a Christian Dior eyeliner on my wedding day. Didn't budge an inch.
Right I'll stop hogging your thread now Wink

BanjoStarz · 17/09/2017 23:27

Estée Lauder double wear can give the most horrendous flash back in photos - some people get away with it though so check when you do a trial run on yourself

MaryLennoxsScowl · 17/09/2017 23:37

On my wedding day I put my foundation on thicker than usual with a brush and then rolled a sponge all over it - stopped it looking caked on. I also went to Laura mercier and got them to show me light and natural looking contouring, not scary kardashion style, it was totally worth it.

I like mac strobe cream but I got mine years ago and I have heard it isn't as good now so worth testing it.

AreWeThereYet000 · 17/09/2017 23:53

Benefits watts up highlighter - it's a cream stick and blend amazing!

I also use benefit blusher, it smells really good too haha!

Double wear is amazing - I find it goes on better with the Estée Lauder brush, blended after with the beauty blender rather than the blender from the start.

Mac lipstick in whirl with their clear gloss gives a lovely nude/brown shade.

Need a setting spray for after applying your make up (or you can cheat and use hairspray) and pop some blotting papers in your bag so you can de shine your face without applying more product.

Retrovibes · 18/09/2017 04:40

I wouldn't use double wear as my foundation on my wedding day, I think it is too matte. You need something more dewy- or use a dewy setting spray, nyx do one.
Highlighters- Mary Lou by the balm, glazed donut by ofra, glow with the flow/lightning dust killawatt by gently beauty are all amazing
You can use concealer with a matte skin tone, pale yellow or white eyeshadow over to set it as an eye primer.
I would still use a little mascara unless you have jet black eyelashes naturally.

Retrovibes · 18/09/2017 04:46

I would use a liquid lipstick because they last longer and don't move, with a hint of gloss in the middle of the lower lip to add volume. You don't want to be kissing your new husband and him pull away with a mouth full of gloss or lipstick lol.

I would suggest Jeffree Star in mannequin, celebrity skin or rose matter for a pinky nude.

If you are dead set on a "normal" lipstick Soap and Glory do amazing ones! Try super nude for a matte and nude edition for a satin.

Don't forget lip liner.

Retrovibes · 18/09/2017 04:50

Blushes - try Sleeks!!! Truly the best I've tried.

Avoid cream highlighters and blushes, try can lift your foundation and you don't need that on your wedding day.
Blotting papers - fenty beauty
Eyeliner - Kat Von d
Stila in kitten is fab!

What eyeshadow palette are you using?

Amee1992x · 18/09/2017 05:18

Be careful with powders & foundations, some might show up a white cast on photography

PhilippeFlop · 18/09/2017 07:12

Another saying that ELDW can give awful flashback in photos, most foundations with SPF in do this

eternalopt · 18/09/2017 07:16

Once you've practiced it, get someone to take a few photos, with and without a flash. That will show you if foundation glows or not

RibenaMonsoon · 18/09/2017 07:17

A setting spray is a must. I used urban decay de slick and my makeup held up all day.
