Are Parkas passé now?

Was think of ordering this one in navy - khaki does me no favours.

gap

But not sure if they have had their day or are they a style perennial?

Other option is this one from boden but looks a bit short and not taken with the yellow lining.

I like the cut and shape of the Boden better but totally agree on the yellow linen and the yellow fur is atrocious!
What about h&m? www.hm.com/us/products/ladies/jackets_coats/parkas

I love the GAP one. If I hadn't got a similar one, I'd totally be ordering it. Not sure if they are passe or not? I saw a lot last year in the winter.

WomblingThree · 18/09/2017 08:03

I really like that Gap one. If they are passé, what's the alternative?

BoredOnMatLeave · 18/09/2017 08:07

I think the GAP one is better. I don't love parkas, I think they usually look a bit messy but honestly don't see many alternatives either. I wouldn't say they are passe.

chloechloe · 18/09/2017 08:21

I hope not, I love mine! I have a warm black one for winter and a thin khaki one for summer (similar to that linked). How else am I supposed to do the nursery run in the rain with 2 little ones!? Someone please tell me I can keep wearing them!

chloechloe · 18/09/2017 08:24

I prefer the blue Gap one - lovely colour and the longer length is much better I find. I'm tempted to buy a third....

BeatriceBeaudelaire · 18/09/2017 08:36

Parkas are hideous - hordes of high school girls, all wearing their dingy, bedraggled parka and vans shoes ... their mums behind them in the same coat ... hideous

JoJoSM2 · 18/09/2017 08:55

Beatrice Grin

I wouldn't wear one myself but I do think they are perennials just like leather biker jackets or trench coats.

Nettletheelf · 18/09/2017 08:57

Parkas are going nowhere (as in they won't be going out of fashion for a long time).

Grin Grin beatrice, I shall however continue to wear mine given that my eldest is only 2.5 and has a cute Joules raincoat.

Floisme · 18/09/2017 09:44

I'm sure they're still around but I wouldn't call them perennials either. They were off the radar for a long time and I'm sure at some point they'll disappear for another spell before popping up again in another decade. But they're too useful and there are far too many out there for them become passe overnight.

I prefer the gap one but it's twill which I imagine won't be much use in bad weather so depends what you want it for?
