Leather look jeggins?

I'm looking for a going out outfit (night out with colleagues: meal, pubs and probably ending up in a club). I'm 38, size 12 and pear shaped. I'm looking for something to wear that covers me, keeps me warm when staggering from pub to pub ( Grin ) but I can still feel a bit cool and sexy in.
Am I mad to consider leather look jeggins? They seem to fit the bill and less boring than skinny jeans. I can't decide if they are suitable as I'm not stick thin and well out of my 20s. And if I go for them, what do I wear them with?

A long line top. That covers your back side.

I bought the next ones in navy and the black, wore the navy ones with a long line navy jumper and knee high flat boots and male friends we were with said, " ooh leather trousers, they're a bit saucy blunt". Not worn them since as now feel a tad self conscious .... Hmm.

Any suggestions what to team it up with? Is a plain black t-shirt long enough to cover my bum too boring? I'm not too keen on vest tops (bingo wings).
