Can Anyone Help Me Find My "Holy Grail" Boots?

It's come to that time of year when I have to think about buying boots and I need help as I really can't find anything that meets my (rather specific) requirements so I'm hoping you wise ladies may be able to help!

I am after black knee high boots that are smart and as flat soled as possible. As cheap as possible. That bit is simple.

However, I also need them to have a thick sole as I have to be able to walk in them safely in ice and snow if we have a bad winter. I broke my ankle a couple of years ago when I slipped over so I am a bit paranoid about winter footwear and all the boots I saw in the shop today seem to have smooth soles. Ideally I want something ridged and preferably a bit rubbery. More like the type of soles you find on Timberlands.

Also, due to surgery on said ankle it doesn't bend properly so they need to be zipped and not pull on.

And, if they are available in brown too that would be even better.

Am I asking too much?

Blowfish boots might fit the bill. I linked to the first pair of brown knee highs I came upon but I love them as a brand...they're tough and look good too.

Here's more

I had some Rocket Dog boots years ago and they're good also.

Sainsbury's. I got mine there and they lasted three years.

Sainsbury's are very good for leather boots. They don't have any online at the moment but we might be a bit early for them, I'd be surprised if they don't do any.

Tesco have some (in brown too!) but they're pull on.

Thanks everyone! Russell I have ordered those in brown. I will try Sainsbury's and Tesco for black. I've had Rocket Dog before but for some reason they always make my feet hurt. I just don't seem to get on with them.

Oooh I've ordered them in brown aswell! All the reviews say how comfy they are so fingers crossed for you. Hopefully I can do mine up over my mahoosive calves!

Sainsburys have their leather boots in-store now, I have heard very good reviews of them and I believe it is the 25% from Tuesday. They have 2 or 3 styles of knee boots I think.
