Is there something cheaper than Eve Lom cleanser

ChesterFuckingDraws · 14/09/2017 22:08

I feel like I've tried every* hot cloth cleanser there is and didn't get the hype until I was given the Eve Lom cleansing balm as a gift last year and I love it. My temperamental skin loves it and it just seems to work for me (I know a lot of people dont rate it...mineral oil etc) my bank balance however doesn't love it -and I've only bought it myself once!

Is there something similar that isn't in the same price bracket? If push comes to shove I will repurchase it but I'm supposed to be curtailing my beauty spending for a few months!

  • ones I've tried and didn't like; Emma Hardie, elemis, Liz Earle, Superdrug (radiance and vit e) body shop camomile

I love the Eve Lon cleanser. Elemis and Ren do similar cleansing balms. Not sure how they compare pricewise.

Have you tried Balance Me's offering?

bingohandjob · 14/09/2017 22:12

I've tried loads of different ones but nothing comes close to Eve Lom for me. It just works brilliantly for me. I buy it in the SpaceNK sale at Christmas and buy the biggest tub and it lasts all year - usually half price and I've got to try loads of the other range as it's normally on offer as part of a set (the serum and eye cream are gorgeous but so £££ I'd only buy in sale) - the Morning Time Cleanser also brilliant.

ChesterFuckingDraws · 14/09/2017 22:20

I've not heard of balance me, off to have a look!

I didn't realise SpaceNK had such good sales, I'll definitely keep my eye on that, there's a few other things in the range I fancy trying so hopefully they have a good sale this year!

Clinique's Take The Day Off?

leghoul · 14/09/2017 22:23

I'Ve tried so many of them. Eve Lom miles better for my skin than anything else I've tried, and I really have tried to stop using it for £ reasons. I tend to use it once a day in the evening and only use a little bit - I don't wear tons of makeup though. I also like caudalie micellar water and nuxe rose micellar cleanser, but their balmy cleanser just doesn't do the job like Eve Lom.
If you have drier skin, Clinique take the day off might work well for you, but I felt it left my skin soft and makeup/dirt off but feeling a bit oilier than usual.

av3nturin3 · 14/09/2017 23:22

Lush Ultrabland. It's very gentle and very effective at removing eye makeup. I started using it when I had awful acne and skin redness, up to a few years ago when my skin cleared up but became drier. The only reason I stopped is that I moved house, and the cleanser would go rancid quickly in the hotter and more humid bathroom.

thedevilinablackdress · 15/09/2017 08:43

Lush Ultrabland seconded

ChesterFuckingDraws · 15/09/2017 09:10

Oh Clinique could be worth a try, I never think of them for skincare.

I really didn't like the Lush one, I found it too rich and greasy for my skin unfortunately.

The Clinique one is great but unscented, or I really like Boots Botanics one.

CruzRamirez · 15/09/2017 09:26

I believe Eve Lom has now stopped using mineral oil. Sure I watched something on YouTube recently where Caroline Hirons was talking about it.

If it was the one sure thing that me and my skin loved I'd save for it rather than wasting money trying lots of others.

OCSockOrphanage · 15/09/2017 09:33

The DHC Oil is good, but obviously not a balm, and less spendy. It's based on olive oil.

Orangebird69 · 15/09/2017 09:41

It's still showing on the Eve Lom website that the main ingredient is mineral oil. I can't believe they charge so much for a waste product. You might as well bend over when you hand your wallet over to pay for it.

Clinique Take the Day off is the best one out there imo. Possibly rivalled by Tata Harper but that's the same £££ issue!

LaCerbiatta · 15/09/2017 10:18

Balance me is my favourite (havent tried eve lom though!)

thedevilinablackdress · 15/09/2017 11:40

Good Things Manuka Honey cleanser from Boots is lovely. Feels very soothing, not too heavy.

Bombardier25966 · 15/09/2017 15:31

That ingredients list is awful! I do wonder how much is the product and how much the premium brand marketing.

I'd tried all the expensive brands and bought Soap and Glory Peaches and Clean just to make up numbers on a 3 for 2. It's brilliant. Very rare that I buy the same product twice, but I'm now on my third bottle of this. They do a hot cloth cleanser too, which also gets excellent reviews, but I just use a muslin cloth with the wash and it works just as well.

ChesterFuckingDraws · 15/09/2017 18:19

I've gone for the Clinique take the day off one, seems to be similar to the eve lom one, it's a bit odd being unscented but it felt nice on my hand! Hopefully my face likes it!

I stupidly nipped into SpaceNK and saw a new eve lom gel cleansing balm, I think that will be a birthday/Christmas present!

I like the GoodThings honey cleanser but its a git if it gets in my eyes.

Mainly BodyShop camomile balm here.

I think if something works for you , if you try to compromise and buy cheaper you'll end up on the "Beauty Stash" thread using up your empties -or trying to.
Always looking for the next Holy Grail.
If you've found it, stick with it !

I second the suggestion of Boots Botanics www.boots.com/botanics-organic-hot-cloth-cleansing-balm-97-percent-organic-70-ml-10231452 - smells good!
