Bad skin and periods - BCP?

Hello,

I'm suffering with really ugly acne one side of my chin. I've had it for about 10 years and Lymecycline was helping but now has no effect. I'm 41, periods are heavier than ever and I get very weepy 5 days before but my skin is ridiculous! I'm mid cycle now and had the usual flare up which will continue to get better/worse until my period arrives.

Am thinking of trying the bcp to control skin and periods as I really think it's hormone related. Has anybody tried to cure their skin problems in this way - which pill is best?

TIA x

Have you tried Dalacin topical solution?
I had acne in the exact same place and it cured it. I actually found when I went on the pill my skin went very bad. I ended coming off it and have been put off going back on it.

Thank you. I don't really want to go on it. Is that cream from the dr?

Make sure that your doctor knows it's fit your skin, some of them make it worse. Also, if you change your bedding daily that will help. I used to have it really bad.

Yes I have hormonal acne too, bcp definitely helps but I have also cut out dairy and bread from my diet which has also helped massively.

Nothing topical will cure this, hormonal acne is caused from within.

Eat clean and avoid processed foods which are full of added hormones.

Thanks lucie. Which pill are you on?

Yes dalacin was from the Dr.

I'm fairly certain my acne was hormonal and it helped me.

Have you tried dianette pill? I dont think they let you stay in it long term but it is supposed to help with acne. It's thr first pill I went on. I was prescribed it as I have pcos and it was part of the plan to help regulate me. It was so long ago I cant remember what it did to my skin!!

Do you have pcos? There is a a load of information available about foods you should avoid to help your symptoms.
