Tights that don't fall down!

Please!

Tights that fall down are the absolute bane of my life. I wear 40 or 80d opaque most days and just want to find a pair that doesn't require hoiking up every 15 minutes.

They also need to have enough depth in the top bit so that they don't chop me in half.

I don't wash my tights with fabric conditioner btw, as I know this can make them fall down.

get them a size bigger.

DragonMamma · 14/09/2017 20:28

I buy a large as I'm 5'8 but the legs sag and the gusset (awful word!) ends up around my mid thigh...Confused

I swear by Primark's opaque tights! I bought them on an whim once and have never looked back. I also love Boots tummy control bare leg tights for fancy events even though I don't need the tummy control. They come up quite high and are reinforced meaning no saggy gusset.

PippilottaViktualia · 14/09/2017 20:34

Wear a pair of pants on top of them? I'm 6'3'' and used to have awful trouble with my tights falling down until I started doing this... it's better if it's a more 'control' type of pants.

BrowsOnFleek · 14/09/2017 20:39

Wear a smaller size?
I used to always pick up m/l because I tend to wear a m in clothes but I actually checked the size guide for once and my size in tights is a small. They don't fall down on me either, and no chafing anymore..

BikeRunSki · 14/09/2017 20:43

John Lewis. I'm 5'8". Size 14/16 and get an L.

AccrualIntentions · 14/09/2017 20:44

I have a really long torso and swear by the Primark 60 denier or 80 denier shaper ones. They come right up to my bra so have no chance of falling down Grin

Allthepinkunicorns · 14/09/2017 20:45

I always wear a larger size of tights if they fall down as it normally means they are too small for me. I'm size 10 and 5ft 7 if that helps and I wear a size large in tights. Also I sometimes wear suck in pants ontop of my tights and this definitely stops the tights falling down.

DragonMamma · 14/09/2017 20:49

Ok, I'll try larger ones first and see how I get on. Failing that I'll go for the schoolgirl trick of pants over the top!

Thanks ladies

Falke, they come in many different sizes and are sometimes cheap at TK Maxx.
Or Romartex from Amazon

DragonMamma · 14/09/2017 20:50

I'll also pick up a smaller size on the off-chance that may work!

I bloody hate tights!

The move to smaller tights solved that problem for me.

Escapepeas · 14/09/2017 20:53

Wolford. They never fall down, they wash brilliantly and the fit is great. £25 for a pair of opaques but they last for ages. I'm tall and a bit overweight and have never had a problem.

I keep seeing people on MN recommending wearing pants over your tights but I have literally never had to do this.

BrowsOnFleek · 14/09/2017 20:57

Primark cheapie here - the 100 denier weather sensor tights do the job.

Not sure what's worse, the thought of waddling about my my gusset by my knees or a gust of wind catching my dress and revealing pants on top of tights! Look demented either way..

squiz81 · 14/09/2017 20:59

Primark! I got some last year after reading recommendations on here and they didn't disappoint.

I also got som falke ones from tk maxx, they were also good but more expensive than primark.

Blondielongie · 14/09/2017 21:00

Extra pants over the top. Seamless stretchy ones!

Lucked · 14/09/2017 21:13

I'm 5'10 and a 14/16 and have struggled with this. Bought M&S 60 denier velvet touch luxe tights and they are gorgeous and comfy. I bought the XL.

bingohandjob · 14/09/2017 21:37

Charnos 60D or 100D are superb and wash brilliantly and keep their shape www.uktights.com/product/114/charnos-opaque-60-denier-thick-tights

MaisyPops · 14/09/2017 21:55

Another vote for Primark here.
I wouldn't buy tights anywhere else now unless i couldn't get to primark.

They also do lovely fleese lined ones for the depth of winter which is like wearing a onesie.

londonpia · 14/09/2017 22:04

I bought some from Amazon- search for Manzi control top. They are black denier, 70.

StarHeartDiamond · 14/09/2017 22:40

I'm not an m&s fan (haven't bought underwear from there for years) but their tights are pretty good. I'd say you need to size up. I did and I've been a lot more comfortable ever since.

StarHeartDiamond · 14/09/2017 22:42

Ps - if they bag round the ankles they're too big. If they slip down at the hips constantly they're too small.

minipie · 14/09/2017 22:42

Control top opaques work.

Love the sound of the fleece lined ones though!

Bolshybookworm · 15/09/2017 06:46

I share your pain. I have to wear tights all winter (long story but can't wear trousers/leggings) and they drive me up the wall. Sizes are all really random as well. The best ones I've had of late have been aristoc, which aren't uncomfortable at the waist. Will definitely give the primary ones ago.

Bought some sheer pretty polly ones in medium the other day and they were so long- spent all day looking like Nora batty Blush

Bolshybookworm · 15/09/2017 06:47

I think I would find control top incredibly uncomfortable for a whole day.
