Anyone up for a challenge?

I have a skirt that I am try to find a top to wear with. Skirt is black background and has a pattern of multicolour sequins in a flower pattern. Want to wear to a ball at the weekend.

I cannot find a dressy occasion wear type top/blouse.

Saw a nice one in Monsoon but it's very lacy and I wondered if it might be too busy with the patterned skirt.

Skirt is a few years old so I can't link it. I love it but have never worn it as I haven't had anything to wear with it.

And I'm a size 20 for added challenge!

My head is dizzy looking at various sites.

Can you post a pic of it or describe it a bit more detailed?

Want2beme · 14/09/2017 20:59

Is it a long skirt? Would you consider a top like this one? I love the shape of it with this long skirt, if you could find the colour that you want.

Oh thanks for replying!

I'll try to post a photo. It's knee length.

It's nicer in reality!

So high waisted pencil skirt? Crop tops that show a sliver of rib cage with high waisted pencils are very "in" ..as are high neck sleeveless halter cut blouses and off-the-shoulder.just make sure it nips in at the waist unless it's a crop.
Definitely make the skirt the focal point and choose a plainer black top. What was the top you were considering??

Want2beme · 14/09/2017 22:30

Is this the Monsoon blouse? It's gorgeous.

Yes that was the Monsoon blouse. Just worried it would be too busy with the skirt.

Showing a sliver of rib cage is not an option! I think I have a rib cage but haven't seen it for years!

I wouldn't wear the two together.
It's why I gave up on skirts.
Too much effort mixing and matching
Dresses all the way now.

Dowser · 15/09/2017 12:28

If it's for a ball, wouldn't you like to wear something a bit more like this

Dowser · 15/09/2017 12:31

Tried to post a simply be long dress.
Black one £25 , blue one £45
Link appears to be broken

Are you a big 20 or a small 20? There's some beautiful black tops in coast but only seems to go up to an 18.

CiderwithBuda · 15/09/2017 13:08

Thanks Dowser. I ordered five dresses in all and they are all going back.

Not a small 20 no! Unfortunately. Would love to be able to get something from Coast.

PETRONELLAS - I like that but I'm an apple shape so don't think it would suit me.

I've ordered
www.jdwilliams.co.uk/shop/shell-top-with-fluted-sleeve/tr067/product/details/show.action?pdBoUid=6018#colour:Black,size: this. Will get a blingy necklace and have silvery sparkly sandals and will get a sparkly bag.

Blouse with long sleeves/three quarter sleeves in black. Could go for a fancy shirt? Try to go plain on the top and accessories with a nice statement necklace x

ProseccoMamam · 15/09/2017 13:39

Sorry I've just read your last post OPGrin great minds eh

CiderwithBuda · 15/09/2017 13:47

I do like that Evans one but I don't think it would suit me unfortunately.

Hope you found a nice top, and enjoyed the ball Smile

CiderwithBuda · 19/09/2017 09:14

Thanks Mummy!

I did - a fairly simple black one from JD Williams - black chiffon with a v-neck and fluted sleeves. It was a Flower theme ball so I found a sequinned flower in Claire's Accessories and clipped it on. Sparkly shoes and a bag and I was done!

It was a lovely night. Not sure if you saw any of the media coverage of the 13 year old girl who helped 8 people after her death through organ donation? Well it was a charity ball run by her parents. They set up a charity to help children with acquired brain injury after she died. Amazing people.
