Where does one purchase stylish, but REALLY COMFY clothing?

I'm not quite ready for Hotter shoes and elasticated waistbands, but I am tired of wearing stiff, restrictive clothes that are never really warm enough. I want to be comfy and cosy, without looking like I've completely given up on style. I want forgiving fits and soft, snuggly fabrics in neutral colours without patterns (as this seems to tip such clothing into the realm of Frumpsville.

Does anyone have suggestions or am I searching for the Holy Grail? Don't mind spending a bit but budget is more high-end high street than designer.

Are you me?
Lurking on here for good ideas.

Lolalovespugs · 14/09/2017 10:00

Hush is worth a look

TisapityshesaGeordie · 14/09/2017 10:33

Just had a look at Hush and I suspect you have to be thinner to carry that look of. I'm a size 14 hourglass.

Sorry nothing to add but watching. I'm a size 16 and live in jeans and tshirt. Really want to make more of an effort.

LoniceraJaponica · 14/09/2017 10:36

I'm not keen on their dresses. I think they are a bit sack-like.

TheVeryThing · 14/09/2017 10:41

Toast? Winser London?
I can't actually afford either but they do look comfortable and well made.

TisapityshesaGeordie · 14/09/2017 10:44

I thought that Lonicera. I don't want body con but I need a bit of shape or I look huge. I quite like the look of this Mint Velvet dress:
www.mintvelvet.co.uk/product/black-cocoon-jersey-dress/9100
I'd prefer long sleeves though, it's getting cold!

I basically want hygge in clothing form.

Comfy to me means natural fabrics, t shirts and not jeans but comfy , slouchy trousers. I live scarves too - you wrap them around and be comfy and still stylish. Birkenstocks are comfy
Tights and tight jeans are not comfy.

nickEcave · 14/09/2017 10:46

In the autumn/winter I wear woolen tights (TK Maxx), jersey tube skirts (Kettlewell, H&M, Phase Eight) and slouchy long sleeved t-shirts or loose knits. I am always warm and comfortable. I very rarely wear trousers as they feel restrictive and cut into my waist (not particularly large size 12-14)

Aderyn17 · 14/09/2017 10:47

I got the mint velvet junk mail delivered yesterday and that seems to be exactly what you are looking for.
I have heard people say on mn though that it is expensive for what it is though.

ThierryEnnui · 14/09/2017 12:02

I'm a 14 and a lot of Hush stuff is great on me. Have worn it happily at a size 16 too

VeryPunny · 14/09/2017 12:11

Hush is shocking quality for the prices IME - £70 odd quid for a jumper I could read a newspaper through.

In the winter I wear a lot of merino wool jumpers which Uniqlo, M&S and several other places do a variety of cuts and colours. A good pair of comfy boots are worth buying to keep feet and lower legs warm and dry if you have to do school runs. Also, vests FTW.

sanitygirl · 14/09/2017 12:19

I'm also a big fan of stretchy tube skirts, leggings and looser fitting tops/jumpers. I get most of my clothes from H&M, but always on the look out for good double jersey tube skirts. I had a look on Kettlewell but couldn't see any. The Hush ones are a bit pricey!

I also like high waisted jeggings with loose jumpers - recently got these ones which are very comfy www.stradivarius.com/gb/woman/clothing/jeans/view-all/basic-super-high-waist-trousers-c1718557p300319082.html?colorId=001

CaptainWarbeck · 14/09/2017 12:25

Also watching with interest as this always seems impossible to find!

MoGhileMear · 14/09/2017 12:37

I wear dresses and boots, or wide-legged trousers, shirts and slouchy knits with biker boots I get things from Oska, Cos, occasionally Two Danes, Uniqlo, Plumo, Toast. Some of these are outrageously expensive, but wear well, with care and you can be lucky in the sales.

GinUser · 14/09/2017 13:25

Brax cords or velvet trousers, Patra silk long-sleeved silk v-neck vests and Pure Cashmere jumpers. Comfy, cosy, smart.

nothingwittyhere · 14/09/2017 13:30

Pure Collection are currently doing a below the knee double jersey tube skirt.

trixymalixy · 14/09/2017 13:38

I really like harem pants (not the MC Hammer type!!). i have a nice Calmia pair that are so comfy and can be worn with trainers or sandals or even dressed up a bit.

trixymalixy · 14/09/2017 13:40

like this

thedevilinablackdress · 14/09/2017 13:57

COS, Toast, Oska

Squashit · 14/09/2017 14:24

Poetry and The White Company.

Lagenlook if you are more quirky.

Piratesandpants · 14/09/2017 14:28

There's no such thing as really stylish and comfy. Sorry.

MoGhileMear · 14/09/2017 15:15

See, I don't think that's true at all, Pirates.

Piratesandpants · 14/09/2017 15:49

Maybe it depends on your physique. Looking at your list, I may as well wear a duvet cover as that's what anything from Cos looks like on me. Slouchy knots and biker boots - I'd look ridiculous not stylish.

bingohandjob · 14/09/2017 15:56

Uniqlo and BAM worth a look.
