What should I snap up in Greek pharmacies?

Inspired by the French and Spanish pharmacy threads, are there any must-have products I should be checking out in Greek pharmacies? I'm typing this from the airport, en route to Mykonos!! Grin

Korres shower gels and body butters. You can buy them here but they are tonnes cheaper in Greece (Greek brand).

RubyWinterstorm · 13/09/2017 10:07

yes, but they are no linear tonnes cheaper, as the pound is so weak Sad

but yes, Korres is great, but I did not buy any as I thought I might as well buy it at Waitrose instead of lugging it around Grin

DuckOffAutocorrectYouShiv · 13/09/2017 10:07

Ah yes. I bought it over there pre Brexit crash.

SealSong · 13/09/2017 10:08

Lovely olive oil soaps

LavenderHills · 14/09/2017 10:08

Many thanks! I live in France so am already working with Euros. I shall now waltz off to snap up some lovely olive oils soaps and Korres products!

(And fwiw, can I just say I HIGHLY recommend Paros this time of year? Gorgeously warm and still buzzy, but not manic with visitors in September.)

I really like Apivita the quality is great.

joangray38 · 14/09/2017 10:33

Apivita stuff

JuicyCake · 14/09/2017 10:36

I once did Paros, in September, many years ago... Heaven!

Laska5772 · 14/09/2017 11:02

Not S&B really, but Fenistril ( a Greek brand I think) is the best ointment I have ever found for mosquito bites . I always get a couple of tubes

@Laska5772 Fenistil is made my Glaxo Smith Klein (GSK) and is commonly available across continental Europe - you can also get it with hydrocortisone in. Great stuff.

Korres is often found inside Greek duty free as are huge bottles of olive oil, definitely worth picking some up. I'd also recommend going to a Greek Lidl for great Cretan olive oil and honey, the quality is fantastic and they are super cheap.

RubyWinterstorm · 14/09/2017 15:42

Fenistil is great, I buy it in Germany :)

Laska5772 · 14/09/2017 17:37

oh, thats great info! Ill look elsewhere for it also then.. Thanks Flinders and Ruby

Greek here, so keep notes!
Apivita is even better than Korres for hair and face creams. Great serums too. You HAVE to buy Apivita hyaluronic hair mask (sachet), I am so in love with it! Moisturizes like crazy and leaves my fine hair weightless! And the smell.. Heaven! And it lasts even after drying, I go to work with amazing smelling hair. Just buy 10 of them. Also apivita face masks are great, I love the exfoliating one with bilberry (I buy the tube) and the orange one for radiance. They both make a visible difference.
Another excellent brand is frezyderm. If you want the best hand cream for dry, cracked skin, get dermofilia. Hands feel protected even if you wash them after using it. Frezyderm have top notch stuff for children too: toothpaste, cream for bumps on the head (resembles butter), lotions etc.

Also there's froika, I use their hyaluronic moisture serum and they also have hyaluronic face wash which is great and non drying. Although I now prefer Korres Olympus tea cream face wash as it is more luxurious and feels better and even less drying on my combination skin.

That's the first things that came to mind.

PinkLipsDontLie · 14/09/2017 19:09

Ha I forgot pharmasept! Their cleria mastic body oil is splendid: spray, smell great has anti aging properties and is cheap. It's a glass bottle so needs careful wrapping.

Ktown · 14/09/2017 20:23

Aptivita masks and shower gel
Korres make up
I love a Greek pharmacy
Most medicines are otc too(!)

lurkingfromhome · 14/09/2017 20:39

Love all these things but I was in Greece last week and Korres is now cheaper to buy at home than there, I'm afraid... Bloody weak pound, grrrr.

LavenderHills · 15/09/2017 21:01

@PinkLipsDontLie thank you so much for those detailed recommendations! I bought the Frezyderm Velvet Second Skin sunscreen, slathered it all over my bloody pale Irish skin and hit the beach, without a freckle or a flush to show for it afterwards. I've also never come across a face sunscreen before that ACTUALLY went on invisibly. I'm so impressed Star
I also nabbed some Korres shampoo and conditioner, which smells lovely, but then I was dragged out of the pharmacy by impatient DP, who seems to think we're here to relax on the beach rather than raid the skincare aisles Hmm
I shall be returning to another pharmacy tomorrow, to give Apitiva the attention it deserves, and will report back!
