Charlotte Tilbury rant - or am I being pedantic?

I just ordered the CT Overnight Bronze & Glow Mask via Cult Beauty. Having opened it, there is a sticker on the tube with the product name on it and underneath it says Dream Bronze Mask. How tacky is that!? I find it really unacceptable for something that's a premium brand. Or am I being overly pedantic?

On a side note, a while back I also had a CT eye crayon in one of Cult Beauty's goody bags and most of the writing had rubbed off the product. Not such a big deal as it was a freebie, but still...

No, I won't pay a higher price.

I'll buy from someone else.

MorrisZapp · 13/09/2017 09:00

That is crap. A huge chunk of your beauty budget goes on the packaging, they need to get it right.

I'd struggle to have any faith at all in what looks like a hastily renamed product.

LapinR0se · 13/09/2017 09:03

I am just explaining how this situation came about and the consequences for consumers.
Up to you who you buy from!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 13/09/2017 09:09

Of course it's up to me who to buy from. Hmm

I don't need anyone's permission to do so.

My point is that the consumer pays for the whole package, the idea, the image, the product. Cutting corners is not on, it doesn't matter who the company is.

VeryPunny · 13/09/2017 09:10

I'm pretty sure price isn't an issue for most CT customers, and in that case, they could easily add £1 to the sale price for correct packaging.

OP, I tend to agree. Part of the attraction of high end beauty brands is the packaging and ethos, it's what you're paying for. I don't rate CT but can't imagine Chanel doing that.

LapinR0se · 13/09/2017 09:15

I can guarantee you that Chanel does things like this too. Probably not in the UK as the volumes will be high enough but for smaller markets definitely.

OP you should tweet CT, I would love to see their response!!

chloechloe · 13/09/2017 09:41

I appreciate what you're saying lapin and that the cost will likely be passed on to the consumer. But like a pp has said, in this price bracket I don't think customers would notice a few pence added on to the cost.

For me if I decide to treat myself to a high end product, I'm buying in to the whole experience and the packaging is part of that, as shallow as that may seem. The nasty label on the tube, which will likely end up all grubby, will irritate me every time I use it. Unless the product is absolutely amazing, I'm unlikely to buy it again and will look to a different brand that gets it ALL right. It also means I don't have much faith in this brand and probably won't buy anything else - having tried a few products I think it's more hype than substance.

I don't have a Twitter account to take them up on it!

Can't you just peel the label off? Now that it's yours it doesn't matter what the name on the tube is.
I love high end stuff but this is all a bit princess and the pea for me.

Didiusfalco · 13/09/2017 10:52

I was a bit confused by what the problem was at first op, but now I get you. At a certain price point the product, including packaging needs to be perfect, otherwise it needs to be cheaper! They can't have it both ways.
