Fat Apple! What jeans will suit me?

So I'm fat (size 20) and carry most of my weight on my belly. I always used to wear boot cut jeans as I felt they balanced my shape out a bit but now I feel they are very old fashioned looking. I expermented with slim fit jeggings in the summer but I think they made me look like a triangle on 2 sticks?!

Could anyone please suggest what type of jean would suit this body shape and Im 40 if that makes any difference!
Thank you

Sorry I'm not the same body type ( I deal with a droopy arse as my eternal struggle) but have you considered straight leg or boyfriend jeans?not as form fitting as a skinny but less old-fashioned than a boot cut x

Watching with interest.
I'm same size and shape as you, plus now pregnant too, but am interested for afterwards.
I always wear skinnies, I feel massive in bootcut.
I always struggle as I like high waisted jeans to tuck everything into, with loose fitting tops so feel too baggy if I have baggy jeans on and loose tops but don't feel comfortable in tight tops as my tummy is the biggest area.

Boyfriend jeans :)

I was an apple-shaped size 20 until earlier this year, and I feel your pain! I tended to wear jeggings with tunics/shirt dresses, but if I was looking for jeans it would be straight-legged with a bit of lycra or a 'slightly relaxed' style. I found boyfriend cuts tended to be a bit loose around the thigh, which made me look even fatter. Not easy though!

Sparkletastic · 12/09/2017 14:06

I feel your pain and as a 16 apple I just don't think jeans suit everyone. Certainly haven't found any that look any good on me. I can get away with jeggings when I shift a few pounds and have the right top to cover lumpy bits but jeans look awful.

DontDrinkDontSmoke · 12/09/2017 14:08

Straight leg Lee Coopers are my favourites. One size up.

I get them from Sports Direct when they get them in.

imjessie · 12/09/2017 14:11

Have you tried maternity jeans ? My friends is the same size and wears them , seeing as apples have to wear a top over the tummy no one will know . She has no bum so size 20 jeans look awful on her bum 🤷‍♀️

Want2beme · 12/09/2017 14:18

Us apples are supposed to wear bootcut, but I wear straight. I'm thinking of giving Monsoon's baby bootcuts a try.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I am glad that others feel my pain! I will have to bite the bullet and face a changing room to try on lots of jeans but I find it soul destroying.....will try boyfriend and straight cut and I am very tempted by imjessie sugggestion of maternity jeans as I dont have much of a butt (in comparison to my stomach that is Hmm)

Thanks again for everyone's suggestions so far. Do you think a department store would be best place to go?

I'd go to a large department store that have a large selection of different shops (ie top shop/levis/wallis), that way you can take lots in and just take your time (and they usually have larger changing area's too)

imjessie · 12/09/2017 16:06

I don't think boot cuts work on apples tbh . Work on your assets which are your legs . Skinny sit well fitted slim/ straight . I'm hourglass and boot cuts work best on curves and big buns imo

DelphiniumBlue · 12/09/2017 18:28

Next slim leg jeans; their jeans are often cut with a bigger waist ( or narrower hips, depending how you look at it. ) There are some high waisted ones with a deep waistband, and some sort of secret support. They are great for apples, cost about 45 pounds.

Easilyflattered · 12/09/2017 18:33

There's a cheapish brand called d jeans at tkmaxx which are the best I've found for my size 16 fat tum. They do skinnies but also a straighter leg cut. When I find them in stock I buy in bulk

PrimarkOnTheFloor · 12/09/2017 18:39

Thank you so much for your replies and advice. I know to get the best fitting jeans would be achieved by weight loss but in the meantime I want to be the best version of me until my head is in the right place to tackle dieting etc. I really appreciate you all taking the time to write down your suggestions. I've been where you are. It's bloody tough.

The only jeans I've EVER found which suited my shape are Topshop Joni's. They are incredible. They suck EVERYTHING in and totally changed the way I dress. Go and try some.

PrimarkOnTheFloor · 12/09/2017 18:54

shitthebeds i wouldnt be able to even shoehorn by feet into topshop joni's, I'm way too fat!!! Thank you for your suggestion though my teenage girls wear them but they are size 6 and 8! I do agree they look fantastic on them, they are a really nice fitting jean!
