Cropped wide leg trews and footwear. Help!

I like my wide leg croppeds trousers and culottes, they suit me, they're (nana alert) modern looking. I generally wear them with my pretend Prada flatform shoes for work (smart casual), which has worked fine over the summer. But I'm feeling a nip in the air and am wondering what to wear with these wide leg croppeds in the depths of winter. I'm not feeling the opaques and shoes thing. But maybe I'm wrong? Maybe that's the way to go. What about higher-on-the-leg boots? Too much?

What is everyone else doing?

Haven't quite sussed the shoes yet. Have been wearing some hideous old ballet things but am considering:
Taylor Palm
Hush Puppies
or some courts with a slight platform perhaps.

Can I ask where you're all buying your cropped widelegs/culottes from? All the shops I've looked in only seem to stock peglegs or ones with ruffles round the bottom (fashiony rather than classic)

Mine were from the Toast summer sale Beadie but I think Remus found some nice ones in M&S. I'd try Uniqlo and Cos too.

I think we're meant to do sock boots.

Mine would look like a condom full of oranges so not going there.
