I need to look "Yachty"

S&B folks I need your help! Long story short is I'm working at a boat show for a yacht company and need to look "yachty" their words not mine.

I need clear soled trainers (or I'm not allowed on the boats!) A white blouse and some boaty type trousers in grey/black. Coat wise I need to be warm as it's outside and appropriately stylish.

They like all owners and clients to think all staff are avid sailors so I need to fake it without spending much money as I'm temping.

If anyone has any ideas I'd be hugely greatful!

I hadn't read the part where they only provide uniform for the men! Update your temp agency, and request a small mans uniform. If they say that's not cool, quit, then Tweet and Facebook them about their policy. Or ask your friends to. I will!

It's a weird situation but I promise I've made it sound worse than it is! There's no temp agency and it's a tiny staff who get provided. Because of their role. Not because they own a penis.

Also interested in what the 'other kind of yachting' is.

I have no advice on uniform.

Cross post with Oogle I'll see you there. Just look for the one who knows sweet fa about boats in front of a yacht dressed a bit "odd" WinkGrin

I've only ever been once on a school trip so have no frame of reference. All I remember is seeing a chuckle brother!

I'm so intrigued as to who the company is! I work with power, not sail, so have no need to look yachty myself Grin

I'll be the one dressed all in black moaning about how flipping cold it is and how my feet hurt (because I'm an idiot who will wear heels for most of it)

If the weather is nice, it can be a great show. If it's dire then not so much. You are always welcome to come and warm up on my stand if you need to - I will have wine and coffee (as well as comfy seats)

CantStandMeow · 11/09/2017 12:34

Wine and Coffee?? I want to come to you! Will power narrow it down? Don't out yourself obviously!

I'm expecting to freeze or get soaked. Probably both based on the weather this weekend.

Can you talk to the women from your company who did your job last year?

CantStandMeow · 11/09/2017 12:41

RTKanga She's the one who gave me my guidelines!

Thank you all for the suggestions. I have much more of an idea now Flowers

I'll PM you! Smile

Oh crumbs so not very helpful of her then!!!

Piffpaffpoff · 11/09/2017 12:49

The other type of yachting is, I believe, because I read it on a gossip website where 'young lovelies' (of both sexes) spend time on a luxurious yacht and earn money in exchange for various activities.

Some of the names they suggest are breathtaking, at both ends of the fame spectrum!

Calmanglass · 11/09/2017 12:56

I must sail in the wrong places... here it's holey rugby shirts... torn trousers and dubarry boots. 😂

CantStandMeow · 11/09/2017 12:59

Ooh blimey piffpaffpoff sadly no one would ever describe me as a "young lovley" or pay me for those kind of services Shock
