Flat shoes

I always buy cheap flat shoes which let lots of water in and generally smell disgusting in a few weeks.

Any advice in the best place for flats? Or even small heel?

If you can, go up a price bracket. You usually get what you pay for in shoes and they have to work hard if you're on your feet all day. Buy fewer pairs, but better quality.

I'd recommend Hotter - not cheap but pretty indestructible. They do have some nice styles (and plenty that are way past frumpy) and are so much more comfortable than the cheapy thin-soled things you get elsewhere.

I've had a pair of GEOX ballet pumps for years, comfy, great grip, breathable and indestructible (I also normally suffer from plantar but these don't aggravate it).

I usually buy mine in Clarks, there's also a Clarks outlet online where last season's stock are cheaper, Next, or Gap when there's a discount code.
Clarks last the longest tbh. Sometimes you can pick some new Clarks shoes up on eBay.

Fashion shoes - in fact women's shoes in general - are not designed for outside. Commute to work in decent boots or trainers and regard the smart pair as slippers for indoor use only.
