Alternatives to trainers for autumn...

TheNewMrsTomHardy · 09/09/2017 18:23

Let me start by saying, I love trainers & Converse but I just look stupid in them. I've tried various styles and have just felt uncomfortable ...

I need something to see me through to boot weather - I tend to live in Birkenstocks and Ballerina flats, but neither are any good when it's wet.

No heels is my only stipulation.

Any suggestions gratefully received x

Brogues with or without platform? Zara and Dune have some metallic ones currently. Clarks always good for plain leather

TheNewMrsTomHardy · 09/09/2017 19:52

oooh hadn't considered a platform, will check them out.
Thank you x

I'm a trainers girl but want to try and be smarter so I've ordered these. I love them!!

I have tricky feet too!!

TheNewMrsTomHardy · 09/09/2017 19:58

imjessie What are you gong to wear them with? If I'm not working, I tend to be in boyfriend jeans or dark dark skinnies - would they work with both?

What about these?
Or am I way off the mark? Confused

With skinny jeans , I'm short so I sort of turn them up so they are just on my ankle .

imjessie · 09/09/2017 20:38

I like them !!

hungryhass · 09/09/2017 20:53

UGGS!!!!! 😜

hungryhass · 09/09/2017 20:54

Leather ankle or tall boots.

TheNewMrsTomHardy · 09/09/2017 21:20

Thanks all x
I have Uggs (I love them and don't care) & I have leather/suede boots - I just wanted something as a step before them ...

I'm going to try the platforms ...

I don't like wearing boots until it's really cold so I'm with you!!

mizu · 09/09/2017 21:26

It's hard isn't it? I would wear sandals/flip flops forever if I could and don't like going into boots until it's really cold either.

As a teacher I often get too hot in boots too. I haven't got the answer have just bought some superga trainers on eBay but too informal for work.

I never seem to get it quite right tbh, I seem to look for the elusive in between shoe every year at this time.

Loafers

mizu It is hard and I think I look for that elusive shoe every year too, without luck. If I could live in flip flops & birkies all year, I'd have no complaints.

Ann I love the colour of those. I think chunky might be the way to go.

Miracle Have you tried all the lovely colourful smart trainers? I think there's a thread on S&B at the mo about them. I am so jealous of those that can pull them off - I just don't seem to have it in me.

I bought those loafers last autumn and got so much wear out of them. They look great with blue jeans, black trousers and brown opaque tights with short dress/skirt.

There are chunkier and daintier styles, depending on your style and ankle thickness.

IHaveBrilloHair · 10/09/2017 08:37

Ankle boots/loafers/brougues.
I have all three, plus short uggs for really chilly days (I'm in Scotland)
