Here we go again.....the perennial search for a coat to walk the dog in and generally for everyday wear.
My seasalt Janelle is 4 years old and looking a bit faded and jaded. Shall I go for seasalt again but a different style, if so what? What other brands do decent stylish coats? Ps I'm 5' 7" and I like a knee length coat to keep my bum and thighs warm

I need this too.

jeaux90 · 08/09/2017 19:54

I bought a walking duvet by Merrell last year. I bloody love it. Haven't looked at this seasons stuff but the one I got last year was past my knee, warm, waterproof, funky design too. Oh with a good. Worth checking out.

I've just got a craghoppers one. It's great. They have a heat rating (0-7) on their stuff and the coat is a six. It is really warm! Waterproof too. Seems great so far.

bakewelltarte · 08/09/2017 20:19

I have a Didriksons Vega, warm and waterproof xx

Fleurchamp · 08/09/2017 20:26

I have just bought a joules parka - haven't worn it yet but it seems warm and comes down to my knees ( i am 5ft 6)

I came on to recommend Seasalt. But you know that anyway. I LOVE mine.

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 08/09/2017 22:02

Which one have you got Lindylove? I like my Janelle but after 4/5 years it's getting a jaded looking and I'm wondering what to get from the latest range. Or another make?

I have a Janelle coat from seasalt too and I love it. I've tried to replace it and bought/returned at least six other seasalt coats in the process. They were all either too "fun" (weird lining etc) or an odd fabric. So I'm still searching! I might just buy another Janelle.

JigglyTuff · 08/09/2017 22:18

I've got a Seasalt Planthunter. No idea how it compares to the Janelle but I love it.

I see from the Seasalt website that they have updated the Janelle to the Janelle 2! Maybe you should just get one of those Grin

TamzinGrey · 08/09/2017 22:29

Another Seasalt Janelle wearer here. Warm, totally waterproof and I love it to bits.

LittleWitch · 08/09/2017 22:34

Janelle here too. I have a love/hate relationship with it. It's ugly as sin and doesn't fit properly, the zips don't work BUT it's warm, it's waterproof, it's long and it's cheap.

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 09/09/2017 09:25

Well, I think I'll go for a seasalt coat again - I've look at other makes but I still love my seasalt - so Janelle 11 it is - I'll report back
Thanks for all your recommendations

I've looked at targetdry / lighthouse coats and I like the Reva - I might order one just to see what it's like - I don't think I can justify two coats though, can I ??
Has anyone tried targetdry - do you like them?

Miracle 33
What's the sizing on the Elmey like? Is it worth sizing up for jumper layers underneath?

I found a grey parka in TKMaxx last year.
I love it, it's so cosy and yet looks brilliant
It's a German make I think, I will check and post later

However, I do tend to stick to a brand I know I like. That's why I also have 3 Craghopper coats. 😊

Malib · 03/10/2017 14:50

Moncler make the best coat I've ever owned, warm, stylish and waterproof.

shatteredstudentmum · 03/10/2017 19:55

I have a craghopper Emily, long, warm and waterproof. I love it

RoseLavenderBlue · 03/10/2017 20:44

I have a Target Dry coat from about 3 or 4 years ago which I still wear nearly every day. I think it's called Georgia and was recommended on Mumsnet. It's great as it's waterproof and warm with a lightweight quilt inbetween the layers but not bulky so easy to wear while driving. I've just checked their website and although they still do parka styles, they don't appear to be quite the same as the one I have, though I realise companies have to update their styles to keep current. Would definitely recommend from my experience, and I would buy from them again, if that helps.
