Style help for a pear shape

Hi all

I've been thinking for a while that while I'd like to look cool in skinnies and over sized jumpers, it really doesn't flatter me.

Watched and read some stuff and I'm a pear so that probably explains why...but I've just spend hours in town and didn't see anything that jumped out at me other than one T-shirt with embellishment on the shoulders that I could tuck into wide legged trousers to create emphasis on my waist.

I'm a SE SAHM sort of person so lots of school runs and occasional hoiking small child out of soft play type days.

Guessing in autumn I can wear dresses with opaques, but please help me spot some things to steer towards please - especially what shoes with wide leg - kitten or stilleto heels are not going to do a good 2 mile walk in the rain and I don't really want to end up with trousers dragging along the wet floors either...

You have you considered tunics with leggings and wellies/boots. How wide are your legs?

I wear Supergas with my wide-legged trousers.

Oversized jumpers just swamp me and hit at my widest point, the tops of my thighs. I live in high waisted straight leg jeans. Three quarter length sleeves are good. The bell shaped sleeves and ruffles do nothing for my shape, again adding extra bulk where I'm smallest.

Hi, thank you for taking time to reply. I have got a tunic or 2 to go with leggings and boots in different styles.

Can you link jeans Rider please? I feel so out of my comfort zone going shopping! Might be good to be able to order some stuff online.

This is the T - a bit of interest but no bulk (hopefully)

Nice T shirt.

Salsa jeans are my go to jeans. They're not cheap, and are available in House of Fraser. Go by the actual measurements in inches rather than dress size. They have a reasonable amount of stretch. The Secret Push In slim leg are my favourites.

Horizontal stripe T shirts are quite flattering. As I'm a pear I have small shoulders and a smaller top half. I don't have skinny arms though. Fitted to the shoulder sleeves work well, slash neck, boat neck and square necked tops look great but are hard to find as they're not in fashion.

I love belts, they create a waist or add emphasis where I want. With jeans, I'm currently wearing Skechers or brogues.

Wear brighter colours on top, and dark trousers on your lower half.

According to Trinny and Suzanne, wear boot-cut trousers

Breton/cowl necks/Bardot/round necks etc tops suit us pears. V-necks do not.

A-line skirts are good.

I'm a pear shape. I wear tunics and jumper dresses with leggings or skinny jeans. Keep your tops fitted on your shoulders/ bust and skim over your thighs to mid thigh. Balance out with boots rather than ballet flats/ trainers. Also skater style tunics/ dresses with leggings look good on pear shape.

Thanks ladies, lots of ideas
