Anyone dyed greying hair (bright) blue? Advice wanted

First of all, excited as am a Style and beauty virgin, having just finished an MA and sent my youngest off to secondary. Finally have the time and energy to care about my appearance and quite excited.

Soooo, I'm greyin - well odd white streaks in otherwise dark hair. Till now, I've just being dyeing the white hairs back to my natural colour, but have been too busy the last few months so now have quite long roots. I could just dye the whole lot natural again, or go grey with pride. But have always quite fancied bright blue hair.

So does anyone know if I can just dye it as it is, making the white streaks like bright blue 'highlights'? And hopefully the res of my naturally dark brown hair have a blue (or would it look black?) sheen? Or does the white hair not take the colour unless it's all bleached and would it basically look stupid?

Has anyone tried?

Finally, if this is possible, can I do this at home or should I get it done professionally?

Ah, so I can't just add blue dye as it is? Shame. Thanks for advice.

I had been dying very dark brown hair over grey for many years until more grey than I could keep up with. I kept trying to grow roots out but it looked horrendous.

In the end I had it all bleached out and bright pink two years ago- then I went red, hen pink, then blue, than about six months back I started mixing my colour a bit more steely blue/grey with some (tiny amount of ) black Crazy Colour in with 'Hot Purple' Crazy Colour. I've stopped bleaching the roots now and just put colour on -It blends in with the grey really well, I did it yesterday and here's a picture.

This will fade really quickly though as it's on grey hair- which is not as porous as bleached hair. If you want it brighter you have to bleach (Crazy Colour do a bleach you can do yourself ) to make the hair more porous.

Ooh, thanks girl. I'm a lot more salt and pepper than you are so worry mine would look a lot less nice than yours, more of a mess! Not sure if I have the confidence to bleach the lot!

Yes just do it! As Fridge says it will fade easily so no great shakes if not bright enough. If you're worried about consistent colour mix it with conditioner and put loads on- this makes it more even
