I have a possibly stupid question about tights

In winter I wear skirts and dresses with thick opaque tights for work (black or navy).

In summer I definitely wouldn't go bare legged for work. I'm not sure how comfortable I am in sheer, nude tights either tbh. It feels like going bare legged.

Is there a summer version of still having my legs covered, without wearing trousers or long skirts? Like... thick tights that aren't black or navy? Oh god that's a really stupid question isn't it?

You can get thick tan tights . They're not very nice! Or you could get cotton "holey" tights - fishnet or similar.

If it's not about being cooler why not just carry on wearing the skirts and dresses with black/navy tights?

Nuttynoo · 06/09/2017 06:49

I wear sheer black tights in summer. Approx 40-60 dernier.

How not nice are they allegretto? I'm struggling to find anything.

I think black and navy looks a bit wintery with summer clothes. Doesn't it?

A loose trouser ? Normally people go bare legs during the summer for the reasons you are finding

Okay, I've been googling, and I think leggings might be the answer. Leggings under summer dresses or tunics?

(I know I said for work, but I'm a teacher - I think leggings are okay for work if paired with a decent dress and proper shoes. Aren't they?)

I've had oatmeal cable knit tights before which are good for this in between time, but I haven't seen any yet this year. Pale grey are ok too.
H&M do quite a good range.

Leggings are generally thicker than tights though so won't that be too warm in the summer? I never understand how people can wear leggings under a dress on a hot day

NC4now · 06/09/2017 11:09

I quite like these in white and Shetland. Not keen on the price though.Blush

Leggings under a dress on a hot day are essential if you don't have a thigh gap!

A friend of mine teaches in a high school and wears cropped leggings under dresses in warm weather so not totally bare legged but not boiling hot, could that work?

sanitygirl · 06/09/2017 11:25

Falke cotton touch leggings are great to wear in spring/autumn or cool summer weather under skirts or dresses
