Dress / Outfit for Christening

I'm struggling to find a nice dress to wear to DD's Christening in late September. I'd like it to be:

  • church appropriate
  • not too dressy (ie not wedding guest)
  • be decent length but not maxi
  • have some type of sleeve (i.e. not sleeveless / strappy )
  • be comfy to run after kids
  • be pretty

Pleeeeeease let me know if your internet pursuing comes across anything!! Budget up to about £150. Thank you!

Ok, I've spent the evening searching. This Ted Baker one is my best bet so far... any thoughts?

That's a really pretty dress, and certainly fits most of your criteria. It does look a bit short, but I suppose the model is probably about 8 foot tall.

What's your body type/height?

I'm not quite back at pre-baby weight yet, so still a bit podgy - particularly around the tummy / bum / thighs Blush Roughly size 12-14 and 5'4" ish.

Would wearing it with black / navy tights be a really big no-no I wonder? I'm in north Scotland so it will be cold...

They also do the same pattern in a different style, but I'm not so sure...

the first ted baker one is really pretty. I'm 5'5 and the ted baker shifts like this that I've tried on have been a fraction too short on me - however if you are an inch shorter than me it might be fine. I think opaque navy tights would look okay

Have you looked on Phase Eight's website?

They always have many dresses that are great at concealing the tummy area by clever draping and folding usually. They have lots of flattering fitted and semi-fitted styles and lots of sleeves too.

They also carry a wide range of colour ways throughout the seasons, and offer paler and more neutral colours - it looks as though these are your preference. I think they still have a sale on too.
