Will patent Dr Marten shoes 'give' and be comfortable?

I've just had these Dr Marten patent shoes delivered and they are ever so slightly tight. I can't find a bigger size anywhere, but I suspect they would be too big anyway. I know people say DMs are the most comfortable shoes once they have moulded to their feet - and that they do need to be worn in but what do you think? Will the patent give as much and will this style be the same?!

I bought the patent Chelsea boots which were slightly neat on my (wide) right foot. They broke me before I broke them, and were eventually sold on eBay.

I gifted mine to my neice. She seems to like them, I found my bloody awful.

A hairdresser once told me to sit in the bath with the boots on for an couple of hours...

I wore these in my teens, and they never failed to rip my heels to ribbons for the first few weeks. A friend (who's been in the army) told me to rub them inside with Vaseline, to soften the leather. It seemed to work really well, as I recall.

Try that, and get plenty of proper blister plasters!

Wrap them in a towel and go at them with a hammer. Seriously, it's the only way. The patent ones are horrendous to start with...

They are bloody gorgeous shoes. I got some for my daughter for her school shoes this year.
For what it's worth, I've got the patent boots and like my other docs, they did murder my feet for the first few wears but have been my most comfy footwear eversince.

I have the patent doc marten brogues and I still have scars on the back of my ankles from breaking them in but after a few weeks they are so comfortable and go with everything.

I'd go through it again if something awful ever happened to my pair!

The kids at school buy these every year, and every year those are the girls wearing non school shoes within two days. I didn't learn the lesson from watching them and bought them for myself. They are feet killers.
