Beginners foundation!

I have never worn foundation in my life. Never felt like I needed it. A bit of eyeliner, mascara and lipstick has been my limit make-up wise up til now! However, I am now 43 and realise that I need some sort of coverage. I have some little red thread veins that I want to hide. What do I need? Powder or liquid? How do I apply it? Fingers, brush or sponge? I have no brushes or sponges at present. I really am clueless and would appreciate some advice! Thank you!

I'd opt for sheer coverage foundation, no7 has a few to try out that's not too expensive or a BB cream.

I would use a beauty blender or brush, I really like zoeva or morphe, not too expensive.

What is your skin type and shade? Is there a celebrity that has a similar skin tone
