A warm, stylish jacket that isn't a full on coat?

I'd like to get a jacket for autumn, but I am not really sure where to look. I want something more substantial than a blazer, but don't want to go into full-on woolly coat territory.

Does such a thing exist?

I already have a leather jacket but it is too small

I'm looking at getting a wool waterfall coat this month - something like these

They're nice but I ideally want a jacket type that will stop at my waist... it's hard isn't it!!

I am fairly new & don't know how to link pics, but toggi have a nice leather one for £70, & also a dark blue barbour style one, both waist length

I've gone for a navy and lined version of something like this short ASOS trench.

It's still in the high teens temperature wise and probably will be for a couple of months so this suits me!
