cankle bloggers

This may be an odd request, but I'm TIRED of seeing fashion bloggers that are literally nothing like me.

While I love the fact that fat women are becoming models and bloggers, etc, they never have cankles!

I'm looking for some kind of model/blogger that has a similar body to me. Short, chubby, and cankled. Does anyone know of any bloggers or models that are like a 14, short, and most importantly HAVE CANKLES! They're super tough to style/work around, and I do feel quite self conscious of them most of the time (though I am trying to take a "Sod It" approach to it all it's quite difficult).

I have no idea if she has cankles, but the YouTuber Louise Pentland (sprinkle of glitter) is plus size and does lookbooks etc.

littleflowershop · 03/09/2017 17:59

How about Hannah Gale?

I wouldn't say chubby but normal sized, not tall and fantastic blog!

littleflowershop · 03/09/2017 18:00

Or Grace Victory?

dudsville · 03/09/2017 18:07

This is no help whatsoever op, but I'm waiting for my nails to dry and read your thread. I have cankles and never thought to dress for them so I then googled "how to dress cankles" and got tips for disguising them. Unhappy with that, I then googled "how to celebrate cankles" and got a dailyfail article about lots of celebs with cankles. Mischa Barton, Cheryle cole, Mylie Cyrus, etc. They were in normal clothes! Maybe that will help yo when you are in sod it mode>!

QueenMortificado · 03/09/2017 18:10

I'd say an awful lot of models do have cankles

Mostly because their natural body shape is so unmuscular that they have zero calf definition anyway and so are really cankley

blueskyred · 03/09/2017 18:11

As pp said, having cankles is a shape thing not a plus size thing..so just search general tips i guess or wear whatever you want. cheryl is skinny and supposedly has them!!!
ok so you're not skinny but you talk as if you're the size of the house when you said nobody is like your body on blogs!! Maybe start your own blog??

somethingrosier · 03/09/2017 18:15

QueenMortificado, Oh yeah, I mean quite a lot of celebrities DO have them (dudsville, I've also looked up the same things haha, and found all of them too) but they're all skinny minnies, so you can't really tell. I find if you're skinny (and certainly when I was) it wasn't so obvious!

littleflowershop I'll look em both up, thanks!

Twelvety off to youtube!

I have huge Cankles. I can never wear dresses bar Maxi dress. It is so hard to find something to wear with them. Can't wear Skinny Jeans or anything

somethingrosier · 03/09/2017 18:19

Totally feel ya purplecorkheart!! I've been living in black skinny jeans, black socks and black trainers for years – though this summer (due to being pregnant) I've been more lax with getting the cankles out, figuring I can blame them on the pregnancy!

could you post pics of your cankles? i bet they're not as bad as you think!!!

Stellato · 03/09/2017 19:23

I thought I knew what cankles were but I've consulted google image search and it's brought up lots of pics of people with normal legs that look like mine.

So apparently I have cankles. I deal with this by, um, not knowing/caring that I have cankles...

I guess on reflection I do have some shoe rules that may be cankle related - toe cleavage is good, heels must be flat or high not in between, no ankle straps, avoid chunky heels etc. And I never wear things above the knee or wear shiny/pale things on my bottom half as I don't like to draw attention to my legs.

But seriously, I don't think you need to style around them to a huge extent? It seems like a cankle is a normal ankle to me, just not a dainty one.

Unless of course you have pre-eclampsia style swelling in which case a gp rather than a blog may be the way to go.

Paintbox · 03/09/2017 19:28

I agree with pp that a cankle is a normal ankle, not a dainty one. Therefore no issue with cankles!

somethingrosier · 03/09/2017 19:38

lmao blueskyred I know that they're a body type/shape thing rather than to do with weight. They're just less noticeable when the rest of you is skinny. There are a lot of plus size fashion blogs, where the women are size 18+, and a lot of skinny model-type blogs. I fall in the middle, at size 14.

I'd just like to see what other people that are my shape are wearing. I have JHS (joint hypermobility syndrome) and so can't really wear a great variety of shoes unless I'm able to get insoles in them, so I have to work around that. I don't want to keep covering them up. I'd like to see what others are wearing just so I can see, you know, how noticeable it is on them, because as you say, blueskyred, they're probably not as bad as I sometimes feel they are.

Stellato, no pre-eclampsia style swelling, no. It's more having absolutely no definition/difference between calf and ankle, just sometimes makes me feel quite blocky.

As I said in OP, I am trying to take a "Sod It" approach to it, but that can be hard, and as people do with plus size bloggers, looking at people with similar body types/insecurities/bits as you and looking at how they style it, style around it, or outright ignore it, can be really helpful. ¯\(ツ)/¯

Here is a blogger that looks a size 14 with thick ankles.

somethingrosier · 04/09/2017 13:01
