Hair cuts

Am I just going to really bad hair dressers? Never in my life have I ever got what I want when having a cut and style. I show them the pictures of what I would like, nothing complicated, something like a side swept fringe, but then the fringe always just look a bit flat. The cut is always fine, so I pay up. But not the style I wanted. What are other people's experience?

I posted about good hairdressers on the bob thread. Can you ask people who have good hairstyles where they got them done? I recently changed from an okay hairdresser to a bloody brilliant one and found him by literally chasing a woman down the street to ask her who did her hair.
There are loads of cutting techniques that a good hairdresser will use to add oomph to your fringe but if the cut is not right for your hair type the hairdresser needs to let you know and offer suggestions on how to modify the cut or offer alternatives that will suit you.
Where do you live Shouty? There might be posters on here who could give you recommendations.

Thanks for your response but I'm guessing the solution is to fork out more money for a better salon. I have long straight hair so most cuts I've had were barely noticeable!
They always insist on parting my hair on my "natural parting" - which seems to start in the middle and go off diagonally. I never part my hair this way so cutting my hair like this doesn't make sense!?
