Am totally useless at doing anything very complicated with my own hair - can manage a ponytail and basic plat but thats about it. Have a family wedding coming up and looking for something a bit more interesting than just leaving it straight but don't have time for hairdresser on the day. My hair is long (middle of back) and really straight - won't hold a curl at all for more than about 10 minutes (and am not very adept with a curling tong or curlers anyway although it does look great when it is done professionally (even though it quickly falls out). Does anyone have any ideas or styles (and instructions!) on how I can do something nice with my hair quite quickly and without require an extra two hands!?

You need The Small Things blog.

Have a look on you tube, there's tonnes of tutorials. My go to tho is a messy side bun. I do some teasing at the crown to give some volume, pin a bun low down at the side, and then leave a few pieces loose at the front and wave them. Looks nice and only takes me ten - fifteen mins x

Can you get a mobile hairdresser in on the morning of the wedding. I did that for my brother's wedding, it made life easier. I put my foundation on and let it settle while the hairdresser did my hair & then finished off afterwards.

Thanks all! Been you tubing some designs...they make it look so easy and I know I've fingers like sausages so it won't be so impressive but I've a month or so to practice and try and get it looking good. There are loads of tutorials! It's a bit of a revelation!
